Anyone else have this problem?
Hey everyone! This may seem more like a vent or soapbox discussion. Just want to see if anyone can relate to this.
For the past 20 days or so I have had for sale ads on Craigslist and FB marketplace. I’ve mostly put up spare or aftermarket parts from when I purchased my 4Runner. It seems there is a large number of people who don’t know the value of parts or aftermarket parts. Today I got into a heated debate over the price of a set of 4th gen retrofits. The potential buyer was definitely ignorant on the price of retrofits along with the work and time needed to make a set. How does everyone go about selling their parts or aftermarket items? I’m having a hard time finding a market for interested buyers.

I wouldn't waste my time arguing. Tell them that the price is the price, unless you are willing to negotiate a little bit. As far as the retrofits go, most "run of the mill" buyers are not going to know the costs/efforts that go along with a quality build. Most are not people who spend hours lurking on the forums, like a lot of us do.
I think that is the hardest part of modding our trucks, when you go to sell (either parts or the entire vehicle), most people just are not willing to pay a premium for the stuff that we "enthusiasts" would. Unfortunately, you will probably have to just wait until the right buyer comes along.

The market for aftermarket parts will always be smaller.
Craigslist is always full of people looking for cheaper stuff if not they would buy it new.
Just keep it posted and ignore the low ballers. If they really want it they will play ball with the price.

Avoid craigslist unless you are prepared to be bothered by sketchy people.

I think this says it best. From just the few posts I see that I am not the only one with this issue. Being a long time lurker, I have not yet reached the post count to start a for sale thread. Maybe some of the enthusiasts will appreciate aftermarket parts when the time comes to sell.

90 percent of people are bolt on modders, you lights are worth less to them than a new set of el cheapo eBay projector lights because the difference in quality doesn't matter to them. Ignore lowballers and haters any time you're selling something oddball or outside of the usual. The right buyer will find you.

There are so many CL wankers out there. The more time you spend with a potential buyer the less likely theyll what it is you have for sale. Also its best not to let them ask you what your best price is b/c this gives them the benefit of countering. If they ask you what your best price is ask them what there offer is in order to take back control of the discussion.
Also, if the person sez theyll buy it and you set up a time/place for the transaction..remind them of the price they agreed too. If they come and then try to nickel dick down the price tell to pound sand and thank um for wasting your and there time..
Good Luck..

Craigslist is great when you are looking for a great deal on something easy, like a refrigerator. I recently was looking for a set of rims that I can use on my 4 runner when I want to use my offroad tires. I found both a set of toyo and rims very cheap that came off the dude's 4 runner after 2 weeks. The deal seems to be in the favor of the buyer.

If they ask you for your best price give um your listed $.
If they really want it they will play ball. Unless you are desperate for money then they will come to you.

I hope you get the price you want for your parts. CL can be a pain in the backside unless you figure out how to sell your items. I have had pretty good luck selling things on CL. I always put a higher price on the for sale item and if the buyer wants to dicker you just lower the price to what you wanted in the first place and everyone is happy.

There will always be low ballers in the used parts market.
Doesn't matter where you are selling it.
Just need to get used to it or don't sell stuff. If you stick to your guns the right person will come along.
