No diesel on the Z71 from what I've read. Looks are subjective, I don't mind it. People will always buy the Tahoe and Suburban. V8s will be typical GM good. Transmissions are likely the weak point as they will age. And we all thought that the 4L60e's dying at 150k was bad. Let's see how the IRS holds up since this is their first IRS on a full size.

They have never perfected the active fuel management, its always been a horrible system once some real miles get on it....and I have no reason to trust it now.

Shame to think the Sequoia is now even further behind the ball as far as new fullsize SUV's go. Toyota is too busy with turning the Rav4 and Highlander into Subaru copies, sticker and aero packages on the Camry/Avalon to worry about the Tundra,Sequoia and 4Runner ...... i know...i know...they are coming, EVENTUALLY.

Thats a terrible investment and the main reason I came back to 4runner. I saw a TRD Pro 4Runner in Nashville sale for about 4-5K less than a brand new one and it was 3 model years old
The main reason right there I won't buy those vehicles until GM gets their ass and head wired together...too big of a hit for nothing.

My first 2010 5th gen....sold it 6 years later, with 130k on the clock for 22K...would love a new Tahoe, ain't going to take that kind of hit.

Sorry gSwift, no offense meant. Congrats on the Corvette(s). I'm the type that may buy one with 125,000 miles, eventually, at the bottom of the depreciation curve, when I'm retired, if my wife signs the permission slip... so that means probably never so pay no attention to me.
But for kicks, my favorite rear engine design of all time is likely the Countach.

The new Supra, my goodness Toyota blew a great opportunity to make a sleek, mean machine with stone cold Toyota reliability.

Old technology vehicle sales are on the rise. Just look at the 4Runner. Money talks for Toyota.

No offense taken at all. I do still have a love for the Countach.. I was that kid that grew up in the 80's and had the Countach poster on the wall And yes, Toyota blew it on the Supra. I had such high hopes for it

Was there anyone, males at least, that did not have that poster on the wall? lol

I was a Ferrari Testarossa kid, lol, At the time, I thought you couldn't like both Ferrari AND Lamborghini, haha.

I later went on to have a Diablo poster on my wall, which of course had a chick in a bikini standing next to it.

I actually really like the look of this new Tahoe. I think the front end works better here than in the pickups, at least on the Z71.

I wouldn't buy one, I'd never pay that much for a vehicle unless I hit the lotto, even then I wouldn't buy a first year GM.

The new pickups, are starting to grow on me. A guy at work got one, so now that I have to look at one everyday, I hate it a little less. I still like the lok of the previous gen better though.

IMO the sweet spot for a Tahoe is the later GMT800 models. Yes, the trans can be a weak point, however if you go into it knowing that, the trans can be rebuilt/replaced with a stronger unit. From what I've read, there are upgraded aftermarket parts to eliminate the failure point. The AFM didnt come out till the GMT900 model, so the 5.3 will be rock solid. Despite all the stores here of these dying with 100k, I see a LOT of them for sale with well over 200, or even 300k.

Honestly, if I get rid of my 5th gen, I'd be looking at an '05-ish Tahoe/Yukon to replace it with. I miss having a V8, and I don't want to be in another 20k+ vehicle.

Or, a 2500 Burb from that gen is stout too, the 6.0 V8 and 4L80 trans, which is beefier than the one behind the 5.3.

Can't afford to buy any new SUV no matter who makes it, but I wouldn't buy a new 2021 Tahoe even if I could afford it. New/revised from GM is a RED flag. It may be a nice vehicle but most will have problems Toyota owners won't have to deal with.
It's a road vehicle not really an off road vehicle.
