2021 Tahoe

Hey guys just wondering what your thoughts were on the Tahoe in general. I don’t see the Runner compared to Tahoe too often but they are really the only 2 vehicles I am considering right now. The 2021 redesign was just announced a couple hours ago and it has me thinking - get a runner now or wait 6 months to get the new Tahoe...

Isn't the Tahoe dead? There's a new Blazer, and the Tahoe replaced the Blazer back in the 90s-- therefore wouldn't the Blazer revert to its prior position in the lineup, and thus kill the Tahoe? Or maybe the Blazer is the two door and Tahoe has four? Not a Chevy person so I'm not sure.

An odd comparison indeed given the significant size difference.

I personally don't like the new front end which is also how i feel about the new Silverados. GMC > Chevy. Thinking the Yukon will look much better.

I just came from a 2018 Yukon Denali with the 6.2L and loved it. Do you plan on off-roading? Have you owned GM vehicles before? I bought my Denali new and the value plummeted on it! MSRP was 79K, I paid 64K and sold it 16-18 months later for 50K.

Thats a terrible investment and the main reason I came back to 4runner. I saw a TRD Pro 4Runner in Nashville sale for about 4-5K less than a brand new one and it was 3 model years old

Chevy slaps names on whatever nowadays and doesn't follow old logic.

The new blazer I believe is a mid-sized crossover whereas the full-sized Tahoe is based on the Silverado platform. Both are 4 doors. Think something like Explorer vs. Expedition.

Ford Expedition, Chevy Tahoe, Toyota Sequoia.

4Runner is not a comparison to the Tahoe.

If you need space, buy the Tahoe.

Yeah I hear you. I guess I meant that I was deciding between them, not necessarily that they’re super similar. I lean towards 4Runner for several reasons, but was a little intrigued earlier when seeing redesign specs

I would go back to living with endless repairs on a daily driven BMW before I subject myself to a GM vehicle.

I am also planning on buying a 4runner in the near future, and was comparing Tahoe/Yukon, JLUW, and 4runner, and for me personally, it came down to reliability. The 4runner has the now stone-age 5 speed transmission and 4.0L, but it's been proven reliable. JLUW has so much more features and better gas mileage than the 4runner, but I haven't seen much reliability from the 3.6L, seeing that my nephew has one and has been in the shop for repair more times than my '08 F150.

That's not bad for a GM
Long time back but had an 05 Tahoe listed 55, paid 50. 6 months of loaner cars, trans, differential then finally brakes had total intermittent brake failure they could not fix. Lost 20k in 7 months. Last penny gm will get from me

Damn! Yeah thats pretty rough, although 14k still hurt me. lol I've had 3 new Sierra's, 1 Yukon, and the Corvette since 2014 and have never had a single problem out of any of them. Knock on wood I don't start having any problems with the Vette since I'll be selling it soon to replace it with a C8

They don't compare really.. I had an '11 Denali with the 6.2 and it was music to the ears. So depends where your priorities are:

4Runner --> resale value, off-road, mid-sized, bulletproof reliability

Tahoe --> Towing, more space, v8

Especially if you get one of the unique colors.

I loved my Sierra 2500 but the bad experience that I made with my Acadia Denali... I can’t see myself considering a gm product again

based on vehicles in NC, if you buy a tahoe i'm pretty sure you're required to stretch tires on really ugly wheels then squat the back, throw a light bar on it, and you're apparently required to have a sticker on your window with your instagram
