I used to do that too until the "white powder" incidents and they started irradiating mail. I got a credit card in the mail that was melted into a small ball and that was it.

My reason for shipping to work is not really because of missing packages.

But one delivered it over my wall where my dog is. And I guarantee my dog was barking at them when they dropped it off. Luckily it was still in one piece when I found it.

USPS and other delivery services are under pressure to deliver all items before their shift ends. And USPS is so bad about it. I remember reading an article of usps drivers scanning the remaining boxes in their truck as delivered so they can go home and not get in trouble.

I had that delivered but no delivery dilemma happen to me 3 times already. 2 times the package arrived days later after being tagged as delivered days earlier.

Once the shipping company tags it as delivered it's out of the shipping companies and the sellers hands. You could try to appeal to the credit card company if you used one.

Ive had way to many run-ins with my local PO and lost, missing or mid delivered packages. If possible i have the package held at the PO for PU. If something goes missing i contact the vendor and let them hash it out with USPS. Lastly, if you find youre not getting anywhere wit your local USPS PO contact the regional office that oversees the operation of the local PO.

My text notification from USPS said Handed to Individual.

It was insured and delivered over an hour before the estimated window of arrival, but seriously, you left an $8,000 necklace hanging on the damn mailbox flag?

I stayed home the entire day because I learned long ago not to trust them around here. We may have the country's worst mail system.

This is a big step up from the 1986 Subaru GL wagon I used on the Outer Banks beaches for 14 years. That thing would go anywhere in the sand on 185/70-13 tires. Dual range 5 speed, factory skid plate, 3 position manually adjustable rear shocks and armored exhaust. All factory, including the white spoke wheels. The front sub frame finally rusted apart.

USPS is the worst. They marked an order as "delivered" only I couldn't find it. It wasn't on the doorstep, in the bushes, or in the community mailbox. I had to go across the street (Yes, the post office was across the street from my house) and ring the service window bell for about 10 minutes since it was a Saturday. Me and another customer could easily hear the employees talking a few feet on the other side of the door. They just ignored the service bell until they realized we weren't going to leave. Sure enough, my package was back there. The employee said our gate must have been locked. That was bullcrap. I unlocked the gate because I was expecting the package.

Another gem of a USPS expereince: ordered jewelry for my wife and again the day it was out for delivery, the package was marked as "tried but nobody was home". My wife and I were home and I even saw the mailperson on our street. No paper notification was left on our door in the mailbox. The next day, my wife found the package in the mailbox and it had the word "re-del" written on it. The mailperson made herself a note to "redeliver" the package she forgot to deliver. The best part is, the package didn't require a signature so I'm not sure how she got away with tagging as "nobody home" when it was a simple mailbox dropoff.

Good luck OP. Best you can do is file a complaint with the Inspector General.

USPS is the devil. I had a package "out for delivery" last thursday and now suddenly its just in transit and they have no other data besides from that. Their local post office response is to just wait 10 days and come back. They are worthless.

Jumping on Ups or usps is a fad. Go online specify how you want it delivered and they will follow the instruction in 99.9% of the cases. Vast majority of the guys and gals are amazing individuals with extremely low error rates. I've had a few issues over the years with deliveries but percentage wise unmeasurable. I am grateful to ups, usps amazon delivery service and others.

I have at least three specific UPS horror stories. The best part is trying to file a claim with them.
