Dual electrode plug gap

I have a 2000 4runner with the 3.4L v6. This engine requires the dual electrode plugs. I have been told everywhere not to gap them and that they come perfectly gapped from the manufacturer. I have bought plugs from both ngk and denso and although i didnt mess with the gap i used a coin style gauge to measure and they all come out under .044" which is what gap i need. I thought maybe i was measuring wrong and put them in my engine anyway. I start the engine and it runs really rough vibrating with check engine light on dash. Should i take out the plugs and try to gap them myself? If so do i just carefully bend them until they meet the right measurement? They were advertised with it being pre-gapped at .044" but clearly they arent. I cant find anyone on the internet doing this with dual plugs?!

A bad coil pack? They get really hot and are plastic. If you have the originals it’s likely one or more are bad.
