Hope for the best prepare for the worst. How are you prepping for the covid-19 virus.
The state of Colorado declared a health emergency and cancelled the St Patrick's day parade. Got me thinking.I went to Costco on my lunch, they were out of paper towels, toilet paper, water, hydrogen peroxide and some canned goods. What would you do?.

Reason: health not heath
Nothing different. Still laughing at the idiots running this country with their hunches and mixed messages. Something has to kill me eventually so it’s no big deal.
I agree with the comments above but with two'young kids, dont want to get caught with the pants down. After talking with my wife we've decided to stock up on water, canned goods, meat'and pultry dried goods like pasta and beans and rice, frozen veggies snacks etc. Get my propane tanks filled and fill up my empty gas cans.We will use all of the supplies through the summer anyways so no waste.
We always have canned goods. Not sure why people always let their shelves go empty. Not sure why people in Hawaii are hoarding toilet paper? I have 2 young ones and I see no reason to keep them sheltered. Children seem to be less affected by it as well. I'd be more worried about the elderly and people with weak immune systems.
I do have N95 masks but eyes are still exposed so what is the point really?
I don't worry about viruses until the people dying from them reanimate and come back to life. That happens, and then it's on.
Until then, I refuse to feed into the hysteria and the hype. How does 30 additional rolls of toilet paper really prevent one from getting sick? How is having 150 gallons of bottled water on my garage floor preventing the spread of germs? How about buying buckets of antibacterial hand sanitizer? (anti BACTERIAL. As in, not necessarily preventing the spread of VIRUSES). It's all just people feeding into the current craze and hype of the news cycle. In a week or so it will die down...
And then they're going to come out with these at home test kits and AHHHHH guess what??!? Most people are going to test positive anyway and not even know it... Good thing people bought the extra pallet of paper towels.

I haven't changed anything and won't. More people die from the flu on an annual basis and this "virus" is mainly killing the elderly with poor immune systems. Also if it's my time to go it's my time to go.
And like people above me said I don't get why people let their pantries go dry. There are always canned goods at my house. Just in case or for a quick meal
There was an elderly man being treated at a hospital about 2 miles from my house. I do not see anyone in my neighborhood going nuts.

Good post. To those freaking out I would add;
Welcome to nature. Diseases evolve to survive, and guess what? So do humans. As people are exposed to the virus, as a whole, our immine systems will learn how to deal with it and we will evolve too. Unfortunate for those whose immune systems are compromised, but for them the current flu we all know and love is a real threat already. Life will go on. And if it doesn't, so what? Will the universe even notice or care? The less people panic, and the more calm and reasoned the response, the easier it will be on all of us.

Reason: A
Reading Doctor's reports out of China, they are treating patients with high dose Intravenous Vit-C. also suggesting 2,000 mg of Vit C for general precaution. Regular OTC oral vit-C ? suggest you go with Liposomal vit-C, is is Fat based and goes into your blood system. closest thing to intravenous.
Taleb is arguably the most accomplished mathematical analyst alive today (He and Mandelbrot disproved modern financial theory, that's weirdly still taught in a lot of colleges by professors who don't know better) - and relatively few people know who he is. The discussion on scalability of rational reaction to idiosyncratic vs systemic risk is important to understand. I don't think we're seeing irrational behavior by heavily cutting back on activity that is likely to spread COVID19.
I feel like the country can be divided into 3 distinct groups.
1. HOLY F@#K! EVERYMAN FOR HIMSELF PEOPLE!!! MUST FIGHT STRANGERS AT THE STORE FOR TP!!!!
2. Oh? A potentially dangerous virus with no vaccine or antiviral drug available? OK, I will follow the guidance from professionals and make more of an effort with hand washing and not touching my face.
3. This is a joke and nothing will happen to me and I don't know anyone who is sick so I DGAF but I will go on Facebook and complain about it.

And then there's people like me who wonder how in the hell is it 2020 and we're having to tell people how to wash their hands. My parents took care of that for me a long time ago.
