Also, lol at all the people on this forum screaming "I want it to last 275k miles!!!111" as they wind up trading their 2015 for a 2020 TRD Pro after less than 55k miles, anyway.
Totally agree. Would it be so hard to have just put the 4.6 v8 in it? That's what everyone wants. And building a 6 speed automatic but only using 5 gears bugs the shit out of me for some reason.

I'm not saving mine for the next owner, but I'm also probably not going to keep it to 200k miles like my last one.

Oddly I'm the exact opposite. Did a good bit of desert and Mtn fire roads while in So Cal. have barely done anything since moving to CO.

The 4Runner fits the bill nicely and the only other real competitors at this time are Land Rovers.

Sadly, my 3rd gen 4Runner is rusting away to nothing and my 4th gen has become an unreliable maintenance nightmare, so I'm getting ready to jump ship if something else comes along that meets my needs/wants. Maybe the Bronco will make that happen??
I'm the same. Need the third row for daily duties, and the off the beaten path ability for weekend duties, and this really narrowed down the field of potential cars.

Unfortunately, I don't think there is much chance the bronco has a third row option. I could be wrong, but everything I have read seems to point towards no 3rd row.

I considered waiting to see before I pulled the trigger on my 4runner, but ultimately couldn't wait any longer. The land Rover defender is another option, which also isn't out yet. That at least has confirmed a 3rd row option. Land rovers don't really have a good reputation in the reliability column, which makes it tough since I think this is probably a main reason we are all Toyota drivers

yes good luck with that land rover now I believe it is owned by an india car manufacturer. Even when they were British owned they were dismal in the reliablity dept but had decent tech. So much has changed with the land rover, good tech, updated technology and style but still not worth buying unless you r willing to sale cheap in a few years.

The 5th gen 4 runner is still better than any thing on the market when it comes to overall reliability, comfort, performance and price. It doesn't hold a candle to my bmw x5 v8 turbo (sold) for performance and luxury but it sure can take the family and dogs to places that only true 4wd can and still get back home get a bath and go out on the town. My old 300,000+ mile 3rd gen was the only option I had before it. Now following my brother and other built wranglers up miller jeep trail or more serious terrain in the sierra Nevada mtns isn't a problem plus I get much better mpg than they do on the hwy. When I go to reddington pass and whether I go down 3 feathers or up it with a good spotter the 5th gen makes it every time. These 5th gens properly equipped make a fabulous true 4wd vehicle and still maintain that solid Toyota reliability. If I wanted more luxury I would have gotten the gx460 but would have lost some of the offroad capability of the 4runner.

If there is terrain that is just so bad I don't take the 5th gen it is because the likelihood of body damage is high or I just don't want to tear up a 40k+ vehicle not because it isnt capable. Ski trips, serious back country 4wd trips, towing 4000 lb trailer and utv, decent mpg, big dog friendly (rolling rear window), and fabulous looks dirty or clean to me makes the 4 runner pretty much the top mid size non luxury true 4wd SUV on the market.

I'm looking forward to seeing these in person. I'm very disappointed with the price range they're in as I was hoping they would be smart and make it competitive with Jeep and Toyota, but alas... Maybe I'll just wait another year and see if used ones appear for $15-20k less, lol.

Fwiw - I really like how the new Defender looks. I wouldn't ever seriously consider buying it - because it's a land rover. But I think it's pretty spot on in terms of style. Especially if you photoshop an ARB front bumper. The styling just works for me.

Land Rover 'Quality' now made in China? What could possibly go wrong?

Reminds me when GM was all excited about opening up the market to China and selling Buick over there, Chicoms love Buicks for reasons unknown, and we got some Chinese made pig-iron V6 in American market GM vehicles that didn't make its advertised horsepower output and only seemed to be good at generating oil puddles and heat.

Seriously. I see more companies are making more and more cars in China for sale in the US... it it always seems to be companies with already dodgy reputations for quality. Hard pass.

Meh... Right now I'm leaning towards thinking Ford found a use for a whole lotta surplus Ford Flex's

Eh. I wish it came with a 5.0 Coyote, I also wish it didn't look so much like a Jeep! I have no idea about reliability, but I doubt these will be wheeled much.

Interested, but it has been too long in the making. Has to be more reliable than a FCA vehicle (hopefully)

What's the price range for the full size one?
