Bob Lutz Reviews Current Auto Manufacturers

If you have an hour this is a good video. Toyota included in several parts of the discussion. He speaks highly of Jeep (booo hiss).

Why? He must not have ever owned an FCA product.

Another Old ManTM who doesn't know what's good for him. FCA is trash, Toyota is still the best, despite some setbacks. FORD is blowing it with the new "Mustang" Electric. Should have named it the "Galaxy 500E" and they may have a shot with the old farts who still have a few bucks to throw away on nostalgia.

Elon is an idiot savant who happens to own a car company. I see him being pushed out by the board even further in the coming years and Tesla merging with one of the Big3 or even possibly taking over. The next few years are going to be a wild ride in the car business with 30 percent unemployment in the USA!

Bob Lutz is very smart and accomplished.

"He served as a top leader of all of the United States Big Three, having been in succession executive vice president of Ford Motor Company, president and then vice chairman of Chrysler Corporation, and vice chairman of General Motors. (wiki)"

Age doesn't have anything to do with it. I actually find your comment "shadow" offensive and pretty stupid.

Bob's comments on Jeep were about Brand Recognition and the value of that brand. He's a 30,000 foot guy. He would not know about the sand casting problem unless it got huge. Typically something like that would be 1 line, "Warranty Cost" and a cost associated with all warranty issues lumped together on a "white paper". Been there. Done that.

I think Lutz is right about Tesla. But I'm a little gun shy about shorting the stock - the stock valuation seems to have no relationship with the underlying company's value. We already know that the batteries are off-the-shelf Panasonic cells. DC motors are already over 90% efficient. So there's just not a lot of juice left to squeeze out in efficiency. My view on the cameras in current cars is that they lack the resolving power to run safe full self driving systems, so I don't think that it is possible with any software package given the physical limitations on the cameras ability to identify and distinguish objects at distance. For me - Telsa is a bubble ready to burst.

I did buy ford and boeing stocks recently. Why? Because I think they'll get bailed out. Not because I think either has good fundamental value.

You're much more optimistic than me. Can I sell you some remaindered Countrywide stock?
