search function frustration
ok...I can be guilty too...but is it just me or these modern times and people wanting instant answers. sure I will reply to bring back an old thread of something over a year old.. revitalize a question ckeck new answers....things do change
seems like a lot of questions get put back up often when answered just days ago
example...last 2 weeks..
a thread last week on which battery and over 15 replies ( and how many old threads b4 that)...then yesterday someone starts a thread....which battery
.... a recent thread on which rock sliders another brought back form old......then today someone asks...which rock sliders.....
a long recent thread on injectors to buy and today someone asks....which injectors to get
guess im just frustrated cause I see it in my grandkids all the time...guess its easier to type the question in new than look to see if it is a answered question even a recently answered within a week question ...i want my answer now....me monsters
argggg....just me

Its faster and easier to be a lazy shit and just ask a question without trying to find answers first.
You give um shit to search and you get shit back for not helping.

On a side, I've never had a lot of luck with the forum search engine. In fact, I usually find things more relevant and pertinent, in this forum, by doing a search on google.

I can't even get the search function to return any results. I'm on linux, but I use a regular search bar to find things here.

In defense of some, this forum is pretty populated with similar threads. Battery? Probably a hundred. Same for tires, lifts, bumpers, you name it. So it’s easier to post a specific question sometimes.
Maybe some day the forum could be robust enough to understand the thread that’s being created and offer suggestions from similar threads prior to posting. For example, “Should I replace my third gen radiator?” brings up all third gen radiator threads. I’m old enough to understand that’s the lazy way, but it’s where we are now.

Search works fine for me. Used the advance search by section instead of searching the entire forum.
You can't type a whole story into the search bar and expect results. You also need to try and use it for more than 1 min.

Sorry to hijack the thread but can you tell me what is the biggest tire I can run without a lift I need new tires and want something that will look badass as I'm cruising the Wal Mart parking lot I don't have the money for a lift right now but my girlfriend's cousin's step dad has some sweet 35's he'll give me for cheap I just needs to know if they'll rub or not.

I’ve had horrible luck with the search engine here too. In the past on other sites you could put parentheses and it would search for that exact series of words. It does not work here at all. The more you put in, the more diluted and random it gets instead of making it more specific. I always use the “search this forum” to keep it more specific in the forum I’m looking in. On the advanced search it breaks down very minimally.
I’ve searched plenty of things and sometimes returns nothing but threads from years ago, even knowing I’ve seen what I was searching for was seen recently, just trying to find again. I too seem to have better luck just going to a separate search engine like google or bing.

Search Function-it does actually work but if info is not handed out like participation trophies, people get.....well you know. Read till they bleed. My sentiment is you waste more time waiting for an answer to a random question. Out of the first 10 answers you might get one that has useful information, and that could take several days. People with actual knowledge just glaze right over the dozens of repetitive questions. I do agree the search bar on the forum is lacking though.
Search function: type in your question before these parameters in the regular Google search bar in your browser.
