Brake checking is just stupid. Driver may have taken offense to the quick lane change close to their bumper. Both acts are dangerous, and possibly illegal. Three sides to every story

While I appreciate the feedback, you are incorrect.

I'm not sure what traffic laws you have in your area, but it was not a "dangerous" or "possibly illegal" lane change here.

We just had gotten on the the freeway and were moving to the carpool lane. The slower lanes are doing about 50 Mph. At the time of the lane change, the speed difference between me an him was at least 20 MPH and there was more than a car length when I started moving into the outer lane.

If you watch the video, you will see that I wait for him to pass because he was going much faster, then I move over and get up to speed. So it was far from "unsafe" none the less a "crime". Seriously.

The video demonstrates that there was at a safe distance, because there was no accident. The car to car gap was large enough to be safe. By following at a safe distance, I was able to slow down enough, with margin. There still was room left after the BMW driver committed a crime.

California Vehicle Code 23103 VC defines the crime of reckless driving as driving with a willful or wanton disregard for the safety of other people or property.

People make mistakes all the time. They may be frustrating and I forgive them because it was not intentional. Geez, I would even give him credit if his laser detector went off. Sadly he is just an A$$*@*).

In this case it was not a mistake it was deliberate. That is what gets me just fuming mad about this. He could have killed any number of people in the area with such stupidity. If the police or CHP cared I would gladly sit in court for a day to see that pr#* pay a big fine, loose his license and/or go to jail.

In the end if the little snowflake didn't like my lane change 30 feet behind him, while he was going at least 20 MPH faster, he really needs a reality check. The world doesn't revolve around him.

It's not an issue. When traffic gets heavy the car pool lane naturally slows down to about 30 mph. There are occasions when it's higher or lower, but the speed differential stays at about 20-30 mph max.

The lane is well used. Purely eyeball numbers - at least 1/2 the cars using that lane are electric and a good portion of the rest are cheaters. Probably 1 in 6 are legit 2+ persons.

Horrible. It’s a pity that such drivers meet on the road

I get tailgate even when I do the speed limit or going 5+ over the speed limit, I don't mind I just cruise and they usually just cut me off and speed away lol. its the carpool lane it should be use for safety for everyone else in the car.

Yeah, some people are dicks.

My general rule is I don't be in someone else's way. They shouldn't have to use the brakes because of me.

However, there is general traffic which none of us can control. And if I'm in the commute lane and keeping a reasonable and safe speed, then I don't feel bad.

It's about the speed differential. So driving 80 MPH in the commute lane while the rest of the traffic stopped is not a good idea. If they are doing 65, I don't think 75-80 is unreasonable, where legal of course.

You have to do what is safe for you, your passengers.

It's getting bad everywhere. I often feel that I'm on a go cart track with a bunch of 14 year olds.

This is why I enjoy having very bright lights and a nice big steel bumper. SURE go ahead and brake check me, I haven't jumped the truck off of a car yet.

People who are bad/dangerous drivers are scum. I have no sympathy for anyone who causes a dangerous situation and endangers the lives of others. I pretty much lump careless drivers (sober ones) in with drunk drivers.

I was a passenger once in a head on collision where the oncoming car veered into our lane. The woman said she looked down at the radio and then all of sudden hit us. She, apparently, was a nurse, and her nurse friend was in the passenger seat with two little kids in the back.

At the time, and still now, I feel like I honestly didnt give a shit about those kids or people in the other car. If they were injured, I wouldn't have tried to help them at all. That probably makes me a terrible person. Oh well. The woman driving the car that crashed into us didnt care about her passengers, let alone us in the other car. So why should I give a damn about them?

My friend who was driving had a broken leg, and my other friend in the back seat had a fractured vertebrate. I got away with some whiplash.

I hate people like that. The road rules were not invented for nothing.
Because of such fools, accidents occur on the roads
