Stickers and Getting Pulled Over

Court Rules Sublime Sticker Probable Cause to Search Vehicle

"Every time I see a car with a Phish sticker, I know Im going to find marijuana just like I know Ill definitely find methamphetamine in a vehicle with a Pantera sticker", he explained. "It's not discrimination when evidence of drug use is blatantly displayed like that."

"Judge Karen Ogilvy agreed with Officer Simpson's charge earlier today in her ruling, citing a similar case from 1973 that found vans bearing Jefferson Airplane stickers could legally be searched for the presence of LSD."

I was thinking of putting a Grateful Dead sticker on my T4R but maybe that's not such a good idea.

If the Cops saw a "T4R.org" sticker what would they think?

I don't do stickers on my vehicles. This is one of the reasons. I don't want to draw attention from the good or bad guys.

Yah. Stickers are not tactically sound because people with bumper stickers have something to say and no one cares.

You are advertising your personal interests and personal views to the world to judge you or start some something. The best one is the family of stick figures. They are cute and all, but you have just told the world how many people and gender of everyone in your immediate family. Is that really something that you would blindly share with the world? They see you, wife, and son. They know someone is missing and might ask where is your daughter today? OK Creepy, what's next?

I'm not a lawyer but I have been pulled over too many times. So here is my unsolicited advise.

This is nothing new. Probable cause is "I thought I smelled a fart and people on meth fart a lot."

If you get pulled over don't be a dick, argumentative, or sketchy. Be nice, ask the officer how they are doing and show genuine concern for them and respect for their job. They don't know who they are pulling over or where it may go, so they just might be a bit edgy. And don't start talking about "the law" and "your rights". You don't know the law and you don't have rights. Just be cooperative and answer the questions. You are on their side.

The best thing is to not get pulled over. To avoid this
1. Don't drive like an idiot. This is geographically subjective.
2. Blend into the crowd and don't draw attention to yourself.
3. Don't transport illegal (fill in the blank).
4. Don't drive a douche bag car i.e K5 Blazer with 10" of lift and a confederate flag - No offense intended to any douche bags reading this off course.
5. Maintain your car properly and pay the registration.

You can have a locked container in your car and you do not need to give them key or combination to the container if they ask. I lost the key or don't remember the combo is OK. However, they can arrest you, impound your car, and break open the container. If may or may not be legal, but it's for you to sort out in court.

I have stickers from a couple motorcycle riding & racing schools ive been to...

so will i get pulled over in my T4R for riding my bike to fast?

what the heck happened to our country that everybody has to suspect everybody else of something at every turn??? Isnt being pulled over 'driving while black' enough, now ive got to worry about this type of treatment.

...im going back to watching Blazing Saddles and Airplane!
...two movies that are as funny as anything ever made, and couldnt ever be made again because of the too weak sensibilities of the modern world.

I've had my 4runner for a little over 1 year now, 20k miles, and I've had exactly zero police encounters.

You'd think that if stickers and 'standing out' would draw attention, then I'd be a prime candidate for a random stop. Not once on the east coast was I pulled over, nor on the road trip moving from the east to west coast, and not once in the last 7 months living here not having a front plate in a mando front plate state.

Maybe it's one of those 'well it stands out so much he's be stupid to be doing something illegal' type things so I'm overlooked?

Maybe police just pull most people over for driving like shit?

It's a mystery but it's worked out largely in my favor!

Rich, The Hard Times is a satire page theming on hardcore/punk related articles. It's all fiction.

Gotta work on identifying credible sources bro.

Sure it is there Brick.
It appears to me that most sources of information people post here seem to jiggle your giblets unless they are the left wing wacko kind.

From the 'About' section:

'The historic satire site was founded in December 1976. It’s made by a group of punk and hardcore kids from all the different sub-genres of the DIY hardcore scene. Any resemblance to actual persons or band names is coincidental.'

Now who's sharing 'leftist' websites?

I've never cared about the origin of an article, only that if contains factual information. This should be a baseline standard for everyone.

I'm pointing this out because you have a terrible habit of posting from BS sources and you got caught red handed this time.
