Why do people think the roll down back glass is the greatest thing since sliced bread

I mean, It's kinda cool at first, a fun novelty more or less. Once you actually start using it, you realize that any amount of driving with it down turns the rear hatch into a vacuum cleaner, sucking in everything and you're cleaning your interior every other day. Heaven forbid you drive down a dry gravel road with it down, you'll look like powdered sugar dounutin 5 minutes. I learned that lesson in a 80's Bronco hunting truck.
Some folks think that it's the end all be all of a truck feature.

Well, it’s very helpful with long items like boards, PVC pipe, etc. You don’t need to drive with the hatch open in those cases.

Plus, it can actually be used to slice bread, so there you go.

love that window. Don't have to open the hatch to get to stuff when loaded or even when tossing in groceries also dogs love it. I wish there was a remote button on the key chain like the 3rd Gen though. I play with the rest of the windows cracking them about 2 inches and that creates enough flow that there is no exhaust coming in.

It’s a nice feature to have, but I wouldn’t claim it’s the best thing since sliced bread. I wouldn’t have any windows down if I was driving on a gravel or dusty road.

I realize it can be a safety issue, but I wish I could also put the hatch window up with just a button on the key fob and not have to use a key or the button on the dash.

I think I've used it once to load some lumber in the 8 years I've had it.

If you crack the rear window open you can suck the air out of the cabin pretty fast.

We rolled the windows down, opened the sun roof and the rear window while were were taking a Sunday drive in the Poconos and it was pretty nice for awhile.

All windows down, sunroof open = as close to an open top Jeep as you can get without having to buy a Jeep. Agree, would never do it on a gravel road, but I wouldn't have the other windows down then either. Love the back window down in the Tundra too, even though I don't have sunroof in that one. We just like fresh air when the weather is nice. Wife drives a convertible too, so yeah, the back window is kind of a big deal to us.

Better than sliced bread? Well... maybe. Unless the slice of bread has butter on it.

Drove mine today with a 50lb bucket of Chlorine in the back. I cracked the back window and the side windows, and there is 0 chlorine smell inside.

It's nice to have the window down when you're camping in the back of it - when the weather is right.

5 windows down on the highway is the best thing about dailying a 3rd gen. Beats sitting in a capsule breathing stale AC air or dealing with wind buffeting without the rear window down. You're definitely right about dust though, roll it up as soon as I hit gravel.

When you don’t have a truck or trailer the rear window is nice.

When you carry a sh-t load of manure based soil you need as much ventilation as possible

It’s also nice to be able to cruise down the road (NON dirt road..... obviously) with all windows down including sun roof to get that fresh cool air circulating through

The rear window and some other standard features is why I ended up with the 4Runner over a Cherokee. Love cruising around WNC mountains with all the windows down and sunroof open.
