Baja Squadron SAE vs normal

So it looks like Baja has a fog light solution now that is about $50 more expensive but is SAE certified and a bit dimmer than the normal Squadron lights. From what I can tell the original Squadron fogs are rated at around 3150 lumens and lead to people flashing you but are great offroad. It seems they have a new part number for an SAE checked version that are more expensive--I'm sure due to the official verification--and also dimmer---around 2600 lumens. My question is two fold. I've heard that the regular Baja's are great offroad but not usable on road at all. So is it better to save some money and get some lights are awesome off road or pay more for lights that are a bit dimmer but legal on road? The other part of this question would be if I get the SAE versions am I basically wasting money cause they aren't that much of improvement for the money. Hope that makes sense. Thoughts?

It really depends on where you plan to use them. If they're exclusively for offroad use, get the brighter offroad lights. If you're primarily using them on the road, get the SAE version and be a considerate driver.

I wouldn't worry about the SAE version not being an improvement. The 5000K color temperature is a nice white that's very close to the color temperature of the sun at noon in the Summer. So contrast should be excellent. And the 2,480 stated lumens by Baja is significantly brighter than halogen H16 fog light bulbs, which are typically around 800-1,000 lumens.
