It runs, technically

Fuel injected V6. It cranks but doesn't start, unless starting fluid is sprayed in the intake. Then it runs for a few seconds.
New timing chains, gears, tensioners last year. New fuel filter & fuel pump (hoping that was the issue). Fuel pump relay & fuse are good.
Any ideas?

Spark. Getting any? I guess you are if it runs on ether for a few seconds. Is it at the right timing? Cam or crank position sensor?

Both sensors were replaced with the timing components.
Very frustrating.
It was running fine down the highway. Then just died.
I guess next is to check fuel delivery to fuel rails?

It's apparent you're not getting fuel.

Was the new fuel pump OEM or after market?

I agree it now time to check fuel delivery/pressure in the fuel rail, I would also check to see if the fuel injectors are firing, if they're not getting a signal to inject the fuel it will not run no matter how much fuel pressure is in the fuel rail.

Now the disclaimer. I didn't mention the vehicle, 05 Dodge Magnum.
Replaced the other fuel pump (yes, it had 2).
The fuel tank is long and skinny like the 4runner. Only is runs sideways, under the 2nd row seat (and under the floor).
One fuel pump has the sending unit. It pumps fuel from the left side, over the driveshaft, to the right side. That pump has the fuel filter, integral.
So, 2 fuel pumps. I know it has fuel in the tank (I could see it). Gauge still read empty. Added 5 gallons and voila!
I'm guessing the fuel level sending unit the left pump was bad. Son thought he had fuel when he didn't.
Anyway, it runs. And we now have an 04 Jeep Grand Cherokee which will be better for where we live.
