Shrockworks, please change your sliders design

To use the factory threaded holes on the frame.

I'm on my 9th hour of attempting to place the final stick nut. NINE HOURS.

Why would you have purchased something that doesn't use the factory threads?

Nine hours? You are persistent. I would have given up in half that time.

I’m not familiar with Shrockworks slider design, have there been similar complaints?

Are you still trying to get that last bolt into position? When I installed my Hefty sliders, my son and I used a tap tool and “cleaned” out all the factory bolt holes before install. Helped a lot. There was one Hole that did not line up correctly and we just left it off. Has not seemed to effect the strength of the connection enough to make any difference.

Is a hole missing or out of spec?

Mine went on ok on my 2019.
However I do not like them mixing both standard and metric hardware.

It took about the same amount of time for me to install my Shrockworks Sliders.

A trick that greatly helped was to take the bolts over to the local hardware store and get the next size longer.

Last week I started putting on my Shrockworks skid plates. Unbolted everything looked at it a bit and took it over to my local tire / repair shop. They installed the skids for $50 + tip.

Since I'm a stick nut expert, after those damn Sliders, I helped the guy install the 2 stick nuts.

Took me less than an hour to install his sliders on my 2017, didn't seem overly complicated to me. What are you having trouble with?

This.

If its taking 9 hours to install a set of sliders, the problem may not be with the sliders.

I watched a youtube install that had the same issue albeit not 9 hours.

This was the main reason for going with RSG over Shrock

Shrockworks was one of the first to come out with sliders for the 5th gens and one of the early companies building any armor for them really. I installed my sliders with the help of a friend in 3 or 4 hours. Required a few trips to the hardware store for the right drill bits and such. I remember the stick nuts being a little bit of a pain but definitely not 9 hours worth of pain.

I do agree though, they need to update the way their sliders bolt on. I understand there may be mounting hole changes year to year in the frame but it seems the other manufacturers have been able to figure it out. They need a design that bolts to factory locations and one that doesn't require you to drill into the frame. Otherwise I like their product and it's been stout after 4 years of use. Once it's on, it's on and you'll be glad you only have to do it once.

The OP is talking about one specific stick nut. It is really tricky.

If I recall correctly, the way to go was to flatten it as much as possible and get it in from a counter-intuitive hole in the back of the frame rail but it has been two years.

The sliders themselves are nice but the mounting is sub-par.

I did not waste much time with them only because the Shrock gas tank skid had given me a heck of a training previously

Also, the front pax side REQUIRES drilling a hole. I am obdurate enough to have had an additional plate welded instead. But without extra support, the front end of the slider is not reliable. It WILL touch the rocker if you hit it.

Oh, and the rear ends of both sliders bent upwards and touch the rockers if you try to test them by jacking. There is not much weight there on trail, so long as you don't slide in reverse, lol, but still.

Really, the only edge the Shrock sliders have over others is the understated near factory look with powdercoat quality far above that of any other sliders I have seen. That, and the price was less outrageous than what others were asking two years ago.
