How to run away from CA natural fire with electric car when all the circuit shut down?

Is Tesla next must-have accessory is a bike rack and one bike just in case there is no electricity?

To those of you living in California, does Gavin really have the support of most of the people in the state? Honest question. I can’t imagine that most people go along with a lot of the things he does. Like this thread - insisting on (eventually) all-electric cars in a state that mandates rolling blackouts is like insisting that everyone travel by boat in the desert. Insisting on all-electric cars under any condition is wrong, regardless. That’s not the governor’s job.

Could this have a trickle down effect on the upper middle class? Wouldn't surprise me. SMDH another argument for liberalism being a mental disorder.
Wealth tax follows former residents of CA.

One has nothing to do with the other. Blackouts in the bay area are to combat / prevent fires started by electric lines. They’re a short term strategy during unusual heat / low rainfall months, and last 1-2 hours at most for anybody affected. They aren’t state wide nor are they “state mandated” - PGE, a private electric company, implemented this.

If you have a problem with blackouts, direct your ire toward the private electric company that is clearly not maintaining lines in a meaningful way.

I’ll leave it to you to determine WHY forest fire prevalence and severity has increased over the past decades.

RE: This legislation, it’s a stated GOAL, not a mandate or any type of actionable law... and even in that right it has noted exceptions for medium and heavy duty vehicles. CA legislature will surely draft proposals to help move toward this stated goal, and they will undoubtedly go through a number of revisions and incorporate compromises. CA has a HUGE farming region (central valley) and so concerns about commercial applications for gas engines will surely be heard and heavily considered.

In my humble opinion, the whole world is shifting away from fossil fuels toward renewable energy and electric vehicles. CA is leading that charge and stands to benefit greatly from potential economic success of those new (and quickly growing) industries - think Silicon Valley 2, and bigger. That were not pursuing similar goals on a national level is a shame, and huge missed opportunity.

If your gut reaction to this is “f@ck you, I like gasoline!” - fine, but don’t expect the world to follow you, and do try to consider that things change, whether you like it or not.

Oh, and please don’t move to AZ... we’re almost blue and I can’t wait.

Another Reason to Leave CA: California to Ban Sale of New Gasoline Vehicles in 2035

LOL... it’s a proposed 0.4% tax on wealth earned in CA BEYOND $30M, and % taxable declines each year after you’ve moved. How close are you to having $30M in assets? Guessing not very.

Wealth taxes are nothing new and won’t get anywhere near “upper middle class,” which, by the way, is marked as up to $2M net worth / wealth, or 6% of the mark set by the proposal.

Easy, slugger.

BUT, it is an executive order that he signed. According to the article.

California Governor Newsom has signed an executive order that bans the sale of new gas-powered passenger cars in California starting in 2035.
