It is now $5.95 average in LA.

On the good side since I retired it took 7 weeks until I had to fill up at Costco at $5.15.

It sure beets having to fill up twice a week.

US has oil in the ground and in the bottom of the ocean. US can extract oil if it needs to considering all environmenatal concerns areput aside.

We are the most strictly related industry, with regards to restrictions and recording various details for the EPA (delivered through BSEE). Record keeping is extremely detailed and all forms (company or agency generated) are considered legal documents that can (and are) called into court as evidence. Just recently, I had to go back through files for our platform crane usage to get runtime for all months in 2021, down to the quarter hour, because an agency requested an update on engine emissions from the platform.

If a single piece of trash flies overboard, we must report it... meanwhile, fishing boats that come out to get tuna & billfish dump their oily bilges, as well as toss their beer cans and trash overboard right next to our platform.

I guarantee you that we're cleaner getting crude out of the ground in the Gulf of Mexico than they are overseas. I've seen the nightmare that's their production facilities firsthand.

I have gone thru 3 40Lb tanks and half a 20 Lb tank of propane to keep my small generator running over this time. That will not run HVAC, just the small stuff.

It is not just my small area. It is about a 150 square mile area with thousands of homes.

A couple weeks ago Our Gov outlawed all gas vehicle purchases after 2035. You can bet he will have himself exempt by his past performances.

A few days later we had another state wide Flex Alert warning people not to run their AC or any appliances from 4PM to 9PM and not to charge their EVs. This went on for 10 days.

An EV takes more power than a typical house AC to charge. How in the wide world of sports can you think millions of them charging at all hours of the day will not bring the badly maintained grid down to it's knees in the next few years?
If you're out in the sticks, then yeah you might have issues. That is a risk no matter which state you're in.

Gas vehicle purchases are not outlawed after 2035. "100% of new cars and light trucks sold in California will be zero-emission vehicles, including plug-in hybrid electric vehicles" means no more new vehicles that are strictly fuel powered. All manner of gas and diesel powered vehicles will still be on the roads at that time and it's going to take probably another 20 years beyond 2035 until those vehicles are off the road.

You're also replying to a post about the current state of affairs and talking about what you project the state of affairs to be 13+ years from now.

The question of having an insufficient power grid to support these lofty goals remains unresolved.

How many people can afford an EV? I'm talking about a family of four whose annual income might be $40,000 in parts of fly-over country? Add everything up and include all those other monthly bills a household has. Food, healthcare, insurance, electricity, taxes, Johnny needs a new laptop..ect ect If you live somewhere deep in Kansas you'll need the extended version that equals more cost.

I've seen the future and it's living in a Chinese type apartment complex and public transportation. Maybe a bicycle if you can afford one.

Which is not what was being discussed. I was originally replying to someone in Louisiana who is confusing Texas and California.

Not hardly the sticks. I'm in a city of 212K just North of LA. 250K if you count the unincorporated houses. The power outages included many other cities in the area.

NEW gas vehicle purchases are absolutely outlawed after 2035 from our evil dictator. You can bet if dumb ass Californians keep voting democrat they will also include buying new and used vehicles from out of state.

If you think that in 13 years the state will improve the grid to have 1000 times more power while turning completely green and be sustainable with the way they have treated it in the last 20 you are going to run out of juice for your bong.

A fair point but one that doesn't change the reality that a power grid that cannot meet current demand will not be able to support the laws being passed.

Nobody was confusing Texas with California. Both have grid issues, neither are the devil, and neither are perfect.

I suggest you read the actual language: https://ww2.arb.ca.gov/sites/default...rores22-12.pdf

"Whereas, even under the ACC II regulations, remaining internal-combustion engine, or conventional, vehicles may continue to be used on California’s roads well beyond 2035; and PHEVs that include combustion engines may continue to be sold and used after 2035;"
