We are the most strictly related industry, with regards to restrictions and recording various details for the EPA (delivered through BSEE). Record keeping is extremely detailed and all forms (company or agency generated) are considered legal documents that can (and are) called into court as evidence. Just recently, I had to go back through files for our platform crane usage to get runtime for all months in 2021, down to the quarter hour, because an agency requested an update on engine emissions from the platform.
If a single piece of trash flies overboard, we must report it... meanwhile, fishing boats that come out to get tuna & billfish dump their oily bilges, as well as toss their beer cans and trash overboard right next to our platform.
I guarantee you that we're cleaner getting crude out of the ground in the Gulf of Mexico than they are overseas. I've seen the nightmare that's their production facilities firsthand.
