Can you tell from the VIN if a Limited model is part-time or full-time 4WD?

a VIN# should provide all details of the vehicle.

that said, i am not certain of a resource, other than maybe carfax and/ or dealers where you would be able to provide the VIN# to obtain vehicle information.

when i order parts from my local dealer parts department, my contact asks and i always provide the VIN#, to ensure i get the correct part.

if this post is related to a used 4r potential purchase, why not just ask the seller?

im not 100% but i would think that when you go to check out the vehicle, AWD would not have the transfer case switch/ gear shift inside the vehicle.

that would be the onsite verification.

again.. this part im not certain..but that would make sense.

If you put your VIN into this...

Vehicle Specification | Toyota Owners

It gives you a bunch of information for your vehicle.

It's easier just to know what year. From my understanding all 4th Gen V8's are full-time and 5th Gen's are either 2WD or full-time.

Can you tell from the VIN if a Limited model is part-time or full-time 4WD?

3rd gen and 5th Gen Limited have unlocked AWD.

3rd gen can be switched to 2WD.

5th gen Limited is AWD with no way to switch to 2WD.
