Land Cruiser...end of life

From a trusted Toyota dealer GM:

“I apologize if there was a thread already on here, but the Land Cruiser has been officially discontinued. MY2021 is the final year. I know the Lexus will live with a turbo 6. Sad day.”

Looks like i have the last of the USA Land Cruiser....

I assume that the next gen LC will live on as a Lexus LX.

Thanks Thai. Not a surprise. But the Land Cruiser left most of us behind with the 200 series....

I've read an article about the 2021 Land Cruiser and what's written is its just the same SUV as before.

Yeah, 2021 is not different than years before it...just a few new colors i think. It will be the last year for Land Cruiser in USA.

The abortion that is the front of the 570 giving it about 6 inches of ground clearance before all that pretty plastic is ripped off.

There was a (distant) hope that the next gen LC would be a cheaper and more “essential” type SUV. Of course, that can still be the case for the rest of the world.

But, in USA after 2021, i think that the closest you will get to a Land Cruiser will be the Lexus LX...and that is rumored to be priced near Mercedes G-wages price range (aka easily above $100k).

But #2, there is rumor of a Lexus LQ...which is supposed to be flagship level SUV...but i think that is unibody-type to fight the Mercedes and BMW X7.

So, the LX may not be around either...and LQ will be the new Lexus super SUV.

Any predictions on what this does to 200 series pricing in the used market as the phase out the LC in the US? I've had my eye on one for awhile and intend to upgrade in the next two years...

I always enjoyed the LC, but way too far out of my price-range.

its alot of IFs...but

IF i was 10yrs younger (currently 51)...
and
IF i wasnt paying a fine institution of higher learning tuition...for the next 3 or 4 years...

i would trade my 2014 T4R in...get about 15k for it...and buy myself a solid, used LC200 inside of a year...especially knowing they are not going to be around...

I love those things, and if a Rnnr is as close as i can get to owning one, then so be it...but i know the ONLY upgrade ill take at this point in time is an LC...

so im sad to see them go

if Toy did in the US what they do in Aussie...pull out about 25K of lux stuff, and sell them to us with cloth seats, less accoutrement, for about 45-50K...i'd try to fit that into my budget for sure.

Three years after the last of the 2021 LC's come off lease should be the lowest you can get one. That's when there will be the most used ones to choose from.

I had a 2016 LC I should have kept. My wife's lease on her Odyssey was ending. She thought she wanted an LR4 so at the end of the lease on the 2016 LC, I traded it in for a 2016 LR4. Great, reliable car but my wife never fell in love with it. She had me drive the LR4 and she got a new Pilot.
