Buy or avoid

Hey everyone
Looking at a 2011 with only 55k miles on it and looks good condition.
24k US otd
It has a report for right rear accident with $5k damage
Should I run or consider it
Thanks for any advice

My initial reaction to the price is that is high, but may not be depending on the below variables.

What is the trim level?
2WD or 4WD?
6v or v8?

Well it’s really clean. I can’t tell if it’s lighting and shadowing but that drivers side rear quarter looks weird like the paint is cloudy. Maybe that’s where the collision was.

Yeah it looks good. What do u think of price? 24k US OTD.
Anything to look for before buying? Other than rust?
Thanks

I’m new to the 4Runner so I’m no expert, but some of the things that steered me to the 4Runner was the reliability and resale so you almost can’t go wrong.
In my area the retail value of a 2011 in excellent condition is $19000 so the dealer may be about $5000 too much.

First off, it looks good in the pics. Are 4Runners going for similar prices up there?

As for me, when I buy a vehicle, I plan to be the final owner. So that takes "resale value" out of my mind when I buy. So I would comb through the Carfax for maintenance history, look for rust, and try to get details about the collision, including looking for evidence of what repairs were done. Those miles make it almost like a new one, which is a big plus.

So if the price isn't way higher than similar-aged 4Runners, and you plan to keep it forever, it sounds like a good choice to me.

I forget 2011 is a 5th gen so no v8. It's a bit high for an SR5, but during Covid the used car markets appears to favor the seller. It's also coming from a dealer/broker so expect some markup.

It just depends on how bad you want it really... inventory seems low right now and if it is something that's in as good condition as it looks and you plan to keep it long term, price may be secondary to your needs.

If the frame and health checks out, could be a decent buy even at the a premium price.

That said the accident on the record is a concern to me. Can you confirm the title is clean and not salvage? Do they have records related to the accident repairs?

I see your dilemma, good luck.

I'd try to get one that has no reported accidents... altho that doesn't mean it wasn't involved in an accident.
