CV boots leaking on shaft after 2" lift
Hey guys, just finished a 2" lift on my 05 Runner and getting some grease leaking from the inboard CV boot ends where they seal around the CV shaft. The factory clamps are not applying enough pressure anymore, I can actually move the boots around on the shaft with my hand.
Wondering if there are any long-term users of the mcmaster style hose clamps? They are the rolled edge style that don't pinch the rubber underneath. I would only be doing the small inner clamps on driver/passenger sides.
Any balance concerns? This seems kind of silly to be concerned about because of how small/light the clamps are in regard to the weight of the overall assembly. Also I doubt the grease is perfectly distributed inside the boot which could cause it's own balance issues. But it's worth asking.
Anyone with longer-term experience I would be glad to hear your thoughts on this. Thank you
