Rubbing issue on my 4th gen

I have an 07 sr5 with a leveling kit and 20” 5th gen limited wheels and A/T BFG KO2’s. It is rubbing but not horrible. I installed spidertrax 1.25” spacers and the look was amazing. However as soon as I backed out the rubbing was 10x worse. I had to uninstall them. Were I to install about a 2” lift would it for sure clear?

Hard to say without knowing what tire size you are running.
If 285s, in general most will say you need at least 2.5" of lift and then many still need to chop the frame. Do you know the specs on the wheels you are running? I have to imagine a 20" wheel is wider than the 18"s designed for the 4th gen.

Sadly, the 20” rim on the limited is only 7” wide.

OP: What urban runner also asked, what size are the tires you’re using? Are you getting rubbing with the stock size limited tire (~31.6” diameter 245/60r20 tire)?

I’m running a 255/80r17 (33.1” diameter) tire on my 4th gen with 5th gen 17x7.5” rims, a 3”/2” suspension lift and a 1” body lift with spidertrax spacers and no rubbing while everyday driving (no offroading yet). Some trimming/moving the fender liners, but no BMC needed. Front mud flaps removed.

Stock tire diameter on the 4th gen is only 30.6”, so I’m using tires with 2.5” more diameter (1.25” taller sidewall). My set up is in the photo below in my signature line.

That tire diameter is 31.8” according to Tire Rack. They also say that size is for 7.5-9.5 inch rims. My local Firestone tire shop wouldn’t do that installation (for insurance reasons).

I was able to run a 32.1” tire (255/75r17) with a daystar spacer lift (2.5”/1.5”) and 1.25” spidertrax spacers. I only had to move the fender liners forward in front of the front wheels, and all four of my springs were old and sagging. I can’t say from experience how your 275 tires will work width-wise, but the diameter shouldn’t be an issue. My guess is that a 2.5/1.5 lift would eliminate your rubbing. If you’re still on your original springs, they probably need replacing. I gained about an inch all around with new springs.

Many owners on this forum have rubbing issues with wheel spacers, but not enough lift.
