This too shall pass and when things get back to normal, hopefully these greedy dealerships will be remembered and lose a lot of money.

Toyota of Smithfield in RI not only has a $20,000 scam price markup on its lunar Rock PRO, but if you try to utilize the online buying process to put together a deal, it forces you to select a 7.49% financing rate when local credit unions are offering 2.49% in the area. That's a nice financing kickback.

Supply is low and demand is high, plus free helicopter money for everyone. I’m an asm at a Toyota dealer in SoCal. There’s usually 400+ cars on the lot for sale, they currently have about 50. If it’s an option, you all should wait it out at least 6months for more vehicles to be available.

IMO, quit blaming COVID on ___insert whatever___ BS price mark up… Start of COVID ran out of TP = people went nuts. Mid COVID x, y, z is more expensive due to x, y, z reason that was shomehow COVID related… and on and on and on… maybe a solution, consumers quit buying at blame it on COVID increased prices = prices normalize. Yes, that is a combination of macro and micro economics, but as long as we push the demand, sellers will keep pushing the price. Find your comfort point vs. your personal want/demand and decide if you are willing to go greater than what x is really worth or wait.

Just found this older thread. Prices still high. My story; Knew I was moving to Idaho from Commiefornia last April. Wanted a 4R so in May I called dealer near where I was moving to. They, of course, had no 4Rs, but thought they might get an allocation in the FUTURE.

I negotiated a price on a 21 ORP with KDSS. They gave me a price $300 OFF MSRP. Still an inflated price, but I gave them a $1000 down on a 4R that had not been built yet. To shorten the rest of the story I finally took delivery Aug. 15. BTW the dealer's lot was basically empty when I picked up my 4R.

Inflation is caused not just by money printing, but by POOR POLICY that increased/doubled the price of energy which is embedded in the cost of every single product to varying degrees. AND its going to get worse.

Cheers

Yep, finally found a dealer in ID that didn’t have a market adjustment.

The price rises are significant these past few years as well. Good thing I bought some Bitcoin and Ethereum back then. Good lord.

Just picked up a Lime Rush TRD Pro at MSRP from Burdick Toyota (Thank You Frank!). Its crazy to think that paying MSRP is a good deal but its the times we are in now and it was the easiest buying experience ever for me. They didnt try any sleezy sales tactic: no extended warranty, no unwanted packages, or any bs financing scams. I would take a drive up there again if I purchase another Toyota.

My 2022 is $48700 for orp that includes $2000 markup. It is optioned well but dealer has 3 orp coming in the next month and a pretty empty lot. If you want one you have to pay right now. I chose to buy now only to avoid getting a first year redesign model 23. If it keeps going I will easily get my money back on the back end. If the bubble burst I will lose money but I intend to keep this for the long haul. Can't take it with you right lol

I heard of Carmax buying a used 2004 Sport Edition 4WD in clean exterior/interior condition but with engine issues for $4K, so they are surely making big bucks on the markup.
