If I were to "replace" my 4runner it wouldn't necessarily be for another like vehicle.
If I moved from where we live to someplace less rustic, I'd probably get something better suited to paved roads.
We have a couple paved roads, for up to a mile off the highway. Several are graded 2-3 times a year. Most are tracks that are what you make of them. Locals use personal equipment to clean up the washes after flash floods.
Thus, the 4runner. Capable of getting us to the highway, comfy enough for road trips.

I replaced our '15 4R Ltd. with a '15 GX460 Luxury with nearly the same mileage (within 5K kms), nearly the same color (both shades of grey), and it was nearly the same price (within $1500 plus incidentals associated with the purchase, transport costs, etc). It's what we should have bought in the 1st place, but the gap was closer to $10K when we bought the 4Runner used, and there were very few GX460's to choose from locally.

Funny, because you’d have to have the money to throw it away when you give up getting it fixed and screwed by Ford. I say that as someone who foolishly walked away from two in the last 5 years. Ford is just a terrible company.

Pull the winch off. It's never been used. Weighs almost 70 lbs. And I have a feeling that the Eibach suspension would have better dampening with less pre-compression on the springs.
Go back to stock size tires with a less aggressive tread. Something like the Continental TerrainContact, Hankook Dynapro, or Nokia Rotiva.
May sell my rocksliders and get some lightweight steps off craigslist.
If all that doesn't work, then maybe look into a different suspension. Maybe even go back to some new OEM take-offs I can find for cheap/free. I think the OEMs can support 50lbs additional weight which is about what they will see with the C4 low pro bumper I have on it (75lb bumper - ~25lbs of stock bumper stuff you take off)
Anyone think this will work? lol

FWIW - I've had about a dozen different suspension setups on mine. Best overall ride I've found is about +1" over stock height with Fox 2.5's up front (that's the lowest they'll go on the adjuster threads) and stock rear springs and shocks. Fox 2.0 rears are pretty firm unless I have a pretty heavy load. Plus I blew the seals out of one in about 2 years of use. So I went back to the OEM for now.
Lately I've been doing a lot of highway miles and towing my camper and not much challenging offroad. #dadlife So my plan is probably to replace the 4R and my F250 with either the new Tundra whenever it finally drops or something like an LX570/LX200. While I wait for the next gen Tundra I reset my setup back down to the above configuration and I was really surprised how great it is to drive again. I didn't mind the compromise when I was doing a lot more dirt miles. But lately I'm just not doing that so much. So I'd like to have better highway comfort. I might even have to swap back to the stock UCA's because the JBA ones I have end up with too much caster at lower ride height. I'd get rid of the wheel spacers too and improve steering feel and feedback even more.

Thanks for this. Do you think I'm on the right track with removing the winch, smaller, less aggressive tires, and maybe get rid of the rock sliders?
I really don't want to spend $3k on a new suspension for a truck I probably won't keep more than 18k miles.

IF Ford was my only option, then i would get F150 HYBRID. On the go GENERATOR that can power my whole house in a power outage!! Screw the off-road capability of Raptor…give me heat (or AC) during a storm!!

There isn't a midsize suv comparable.
But if proverbial gun was to head I'd look at other SUVs :
GX460
Used Landcruiser
Rubicon
Longshot
Infiniti QX
Tahoe z71

The new Tahoe Z71s look nice. Too big for what I need, though.

I think the tires are probably going to offer the most benefit. I would start there and see if that is enough. I think the biggest change in driving experience is putting big heavy tires on. They really make a big difference in highway manners - especially with the gearing and limited power. The smaller/lighter/narrower tires will have less feedback through the steering wheel too.
I'm not sure you'll notice the difference from the winch. They're not all that heavy compared to the weight of the rest of the vehicle. But if you're not using it - it's just dead weight. I try to keep my weight as low as possible. I don't leave much on my 4Runner for daily driving.
For me - winch stays on. It's probably my #1 mod to have for exploring off road. It's as close to a "get out of jail free" card as there is. I haven't been out on the trails nearly as much in the last two years as I did before that, but I still like the piece of mind of the winch. I spend time out in the dirt and it's nice to know it's there when I need it even if I'm not using it very often. I feel the same way about the rock sliders. I still keep them on because I still hit stuff from time to time on the sill plate areas and they keep the rocks off the body. But I did take off my rear bumper skid plate and my heavy steel skids for now. Probably removed around 150-200lbs of armor. And they're easy to swap back if I want them. But for mostly road trips and towing my camper to places you can tow a camper - I prefer the lighter weight of the OEM skids if I'm not going rock crawling anytime soon.
My last 4R I used a portable winch on a hitch mount. That way I could leave it at home when not needed. The biggest downside there was that it's kind of a rock magnet out front. So you end up having to haul it inside most of the time and I never had a great way to tie it down securely enough that it wouldn't become a missile in a crash. But if you wanted - it would be pretty easy to take your winch out and put it in a hitch cradle that you could use in the rear hitch for emergencies. Just make up some long cables to attach to the battery when you need it. You already have the winch. A cradle mount is about $50.
