Entune GPS is CRAP !!!!
I have a 2020 T4R, just started using the GPS navigation more frequently. I find more often than not it takes me waaaaayyyy out of the way. Yesterday was the kicker. Simple trip from NW Indiana to Chicago. Lots of construction. What should have been at most an hour and a half, turned into over three hours of stop and go, on and off freeways and once around a block. I finally turned it off, hit Google maps app on my Iphone, it got me right where I needed to go. Is it just me or is the navigation on my Runner a complete piece of crap???? Am I doing something wrong? Thanks.

I had similar issues with the factory GPS in my 2021. A simple trip from Rochester to Buffalo, NY that should have been 90% expressways turned into an adventure on side roads. At one point we found ourselves paralleling the NYS Thruway - which we should have been on - on a side road. I don't use it anymore either.

Check your preferences in the navigation settings. It can be set to avoid toll roads, major interstates, etc.
When I'm in no hurry to go somewhere, I typically turn off the toll roads and highways and take all back roads.

Excellent point, but I'd set it up to allow me to take toll roads. I have no idea what it was smoking when it picked that route. Remember, grass is now legal in New York.

My experience is opposite, when i used it from the sipp to Kansas it took me from major city to major city added hours to my time. Was the first and last time relying on it.

I'm an OTR truck driver.
With any GPS I use I preview the route and adjust with waypoints as necessary.
I'm old. I don't blindly trust any technology. But I will use it if I've verified first.
I also carry a road atlas. And know how to use it.
Sometimes you actually have to put in a little effort.

Is Atlas a new Marvel character???
For me, i use navigation daily……on my iPhone. Apple Maps is far more accurate and more up to date on new roads and traffic condition. I use Belkin MagSafe AC mount to mount my iPhone 12 PM.

I haven’t used the Entune GPS since the first week of owning my 4R. Apple Maps, Google Maps, and Waze are so much better using the iPhone. The real-time traffic and rerouting for accidents etc. has saved me numerous times.
Plus I’m an AAA paper map (and atlas) junky. Gotta have them for planning and double checking GPS routes.

What's wrong with the GPS on the dash? Entune is the app on the phone right?

I use Apple Car Play. I dont use the Toyota Infotainment too often however I do like how they have the POIs on the map as compared to Apple Car Play.
Waze has been and continues to be complete crap. I cant tell you how many times its taken me down alleys that it thinks are roads or taken me off the interstate and down sides street because it thinks its faster. (wtf already). It’s only redeeming feature is it’s ability to communicate warnings from one Wazer to another Wazer. For example where the cops are hiding, stuff on the road etc.

Ive used entune GPS on myu 4Runner and my wifes RAV4 and then compared it to google, and google is hands down better. Seems to always get us there faster and seems to update traffic patterns faster too.
