300LC Review by Doug DeMuro...

Call me crazy, but after the engine and front dash, theres alot of familiarity to our beloved T4Rs...

would you buy THIS trim if we had access to it in the USofA?
or if replaced the T4R in the near future?

some rims, some suspension, some farkles...i might if it were prices right

Here’s Why the 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser 300-Series Should Be Sold in America - YouTube

The whole LC300 series would sell poorly in the US. The lower spec LC300 would probably get beaten out by the slightly cheaper Sequoia (which still has the V8 for now), while the higher spec LC300 would lose out to its Lexus counterpart, the LX. Also now that the Landcruiser lost the split tailgate, there is even less distinction from the Sequoia.

The stealth wealth buyer doesn't justify the Land Cruiser 300 series existence in the US, if that was a significant proportion of the population then why did the LC200 sell so badly for over a decade?

Most rich people dont own a car for 25 years, very few people of any demographic (rich, poor, middle class) keep a new vehicle for 25 years. I think the selling point of 25 year life span that appeals to enthusiasts like us would completely go over the head of a luxury buyer "excuse me, I'm going to trade in this vehicle in 5 years when this starts feeling outdated, why would I care about how well it works after I sell it?".

Just my hot take. The LC300 is probably a great vehicle, I would probably buy it in the unlikely case I needed a 3 row SUV and had a 95k budget. I hope Toyota brings back the Landcruiser in some form or another.

I am 101% bias. I think that LC200 looks better than LC300…and hell lot better than the new Lexus LX.

Happy LC200 owner here.

Any idea what that poverty-spec trim would run in the US if it were available? $60k?

prob still north of 70k if it was 95k as a lux. stripping the interior down doesn't save that much money in the end.

looking at that tho, the only reason I would buy that over a 4Runner is b/c of engine and size (and maybe b/c it rides better but I dont know if it does).

It starts at 46,500 USD in Japan. I think a lower range trim would sell pretty well in the USA. It would outsell the LS500.

The GR sport (the double locked off road model) is $73k USD.

In Australia the base model is the diesel and it has the touchscreen and the 110liter (30 gallon) dual fuel tanks. Base price is $65k USD - but that includes about $7-8k in taxes and fees. So it's equivalent to $52-53k USD, or something like after sales tax and first years insurance. For a reasonably well equipped model comparable to our SR5 4runner. Considering the twin turbo diesel is included, it's fair to say that's about what a similar TT V6 model with the smaller touch screen would cost.

I think it'd sell really well. Id buy one tomorrow. And I think sales could go back to what they were for prior generations when the LC overlapped price with the top trim 4runner. Just like it does now with the Prado 150. And the 4runner is more expensive than the Prado in markets where both are sold. So this wouldn't be unusual.

I don’t know how in Western countries they treat this masterpiece of Japanese art, but in Ukraine, among the new composition of mechanics, they call it the most perhaps not the best words, I remember how at an unofficial service station they started talking about the Land Cruiser 300 and the mechanics began to joke about the grill. They say the more wrinkles on the uncle's neck, the more stripes on the grille of the Land Cruiser
Now I would like to talk about hearing problems and suggest visiting a specialist to have your hearing checked. You can visit and read information on problem with hearing click in this Licenced Audiologist | Hearing Diagnostic - Forest Hills and Queens NY

From what i gather from various sources, the new LC compromises a few things to lose 500 lbs compared to prior generation. Parts are thinner and/or made of aluminum. Skidplates are thinner or made of plastic. Smaller gas tank…so despite more efficient engine, the driving range is the same or slightly less.

Lower to the ground in hope of making it more sporty. Yet Figure 8 time on MotorTrend is about same.

The new 10 speed tranny easily overheats in Motortrend off-road testing of Sequoia.

I've seen the LC300 (V6 TT) rolling around my neck of the woods and its a nice sight but I have to say it seems smaller and its definitely more city destined to the point where you may think twice before taking it through some rural adventures. Kinda of a Cadillac vibe.

I've driven the LC200 (V8 TD - 2014 before the facelift) and you still get the feeling you can go through hell with it, just take it to the carwash, and its ready for night out in town.

The Sequoia in general is destined for the US market, don't think you'll get too many LC300 because of that and the Lexus LX600.

The new Sequoia design is beautiful I can see a bunch of 4runner guys jumping on that band wagon specially with the whole overland fever on who has the latest rig with the most toys.

I do look forward to seeing the LC300 "united nations, red cross spec" which is basically a chassis with wheels.
