Rear bumper dual swingout side preference

Hello. I was wondering why most people with a dual rear swingout bumper choose the tire to be on the passenger side. In my tiny mind, it makes sense that when I look in my rear view mirror, I can see out that side the most, so the tires would be better placed on the driver's side. Am I wrong in my thought process?

I run my spare on the passenger side since it allows me to run jerry cans on the driver side. By having them there they are very easy to fill and I just siphon them into my tank without ever needing to remove them.

tire on passenger side to counter gas tank weight located on driver side.

also, tire doesnt swing into traffic by accident if located on passenger side.

and jerry can on driver is very convenient to siphon from.

my tire is mounted low enough that it doesnt impede rear vision.
