FU oil change place -

I have always gone to x brand oil place for oil changes.

We recently moved and I went to the same company.

The last time I got an oil change the attendant told me that who ever changed the oil last time cross threaded the oil pan drain plug and that I needed a new oil pan.

I said you dudes did it at a different location. He knew he was f’d and said maybe he could make it work.

So this afternoon I changed my oil at home for the first time ever. I just never wanted to deal with getting rid of the old oil, but now we have a car parts store a few blocks away, and after the almost last extortion attempt I will do it myself going forward.

We also have a Toyota dealer up the street so I bought an oil filter and new oil plug gasket.

The was absolutely nothing wrong with the threads on the oil pan plug. The guy lied and was trying to make sales.

Anywho- an oil change is a one beer job and costs half the price of a quick lube place.

Check out the difference between the quick lube place vs. the Toyota filter-

If you have the V8 the smaller filter is probably for the V6 Highlander, I have both V8 4Runner and V6 Highlander and about year ago switched the V6 over to the V8 filter.

My wife's highlander uses the filter elements, not the metal can. What year HL are you talking about, did the 3rd gen's go back to the filter can?

Fiances daughter works at a Valvoline while going to school. 3 truck motors destroyed ( 1 new ford diesel) since the new store location opened. Please don't allow these kids at these places to change your oil.

yes, its a hassle, yes, it can get messy, yes youve got to find a place for parts and to dispose of things...but it beats letting someone who can fill out an application and works part time attempt to keep your car on the road AND works for a company pushing oil changes at 3000 miles, when your owners manual clearly states 5k to 10k intervals

welcome to the DIY club sir...ill get you a slice of pizza to go with that beer.

A Fumoto valve makes DIY changes even easier. I've had one for many years and they're golden. Highly recommend it and they occasionally run sales too.

I'm torn.

On one hand, I support teens working in trades where they learn skills that can help them make a living.

On the OTHER hand, I have a teenager who can't remember to close the refrigerator door ... NO WAAAAAY I would trust him to work on my car.
