Back in my younger years I wired my reverse lights to a switch. Boy did people slow down/back off when I hit those. lol

Its not even practical, my Dad complained how dim they were driving at night. Go figure, half the light is going into the sky.

How else is Batman going to find them?! That gave me a chuckle picturing high beams just shooting into the sky

So what height should they be? I bought my 4RNR already lifted with bright low beams and I suspect they are too bright and/or too high for others, but I haven't checked. I looked online and found that at 25' away, the driver's side cut-off should be 4" below the height of the center of the light and the passenger's side should be 2" below. To me this means because my truck is lifted, I am supposed to be blinding all the small car drivers in the oncoming lane.

Keep in mind that the 4” drop is per 25 feet. If you have a 4” lift, you can probably just do a 5”-6” drop instead of the recommended 4”. When I re-aimed my headlights, I didn’t measure anything on the wall. I just lowered them a few inches. Out on the road, they are much better.

It isn't only people adding aftermarket lights. OEMs have some sort of internal metric for retina pain they are targeting.
Current model F250 and Dodge Ram trucks are flat out painful.

Can we add running with LED lightbars on, especially in broad daylight, to this rant?

Ford actually recalled or TSB F150/250 due to their overbearing LEDs. I think that the 2022 F-series are more subdued.

And is based upon the incorrect assumption that the other driver is courteous, undistracted or sober …

I feel it’s my duty to step in every time we see one of these threads and clarify:
Yes the lift can be responsible for poor aim. But the glare can be from the LED hitting a frosty aged headlight lens. Also poorly indexed bulbs. In a reflector housing, LED bulbs should be indexed so the chips face left and right. If they face up and down. The light will bounce off of uncontrolled (flat/not shaped) areas of the inner housing and scatter / glare.

Wrong- LED bulbs should only be used with LED specific/ factory LED type housings. LED's in reflector housings are a big no-no.
Here's the thing, if you get people flashing their brights at you, you have the wrong bulbs in and/ or you need to aim your lights lower.
If you continue to get flashed and do nothing about it, you're a jerk.
If you have a 'levelling kit' installed you need to lower your lights.

To those advocating the use of rear facing lights, etc. Just remember you may be liable if you hit them with your lights and they have an accident.
I spent a considerable amount of effort making sure my SS3 Pro fog lights were properly aimed - what a PITA it was tightening down the bolts from under the truck.
There is no excuse for not having everything properly aimed.

My eyes
Yes indeed! You don't know how many times I've stared at the white line trying to keep in the lane. I've adjusted mine twice now..and still adjusting them depending on my cargo area/trailer load. It's a fine line as I don't want to "aim down/up" every time I travel loaded for bear. Cheers
