Planning to discuss off-roading & mods with my insurance agent.

Anybody else did that?

It's a good idea, but some policies exclude lifted or modified suspension from even writing a policy, so you could get dropped depending on your carrier.

Or, like me, you have the discussion and agree to a separate policy rider for accessories which can include lift, wheels, roof rack, Rotopax, bins, lights, etc. Thats what I had on my JKU until I sold it. Fully kitted overland rig.

Also, people often times dont realize "roadside assistance" is not the same as "offroad assistance". Always ask from the "I am thinking of" instead of the "I have done" X, Y and Z perspective.

I almost made that mistake. I mentioned to insurance my sons truck was lifted and they said the vehicle would be dropped by insurance. So I preceded to play dumb dad and say well its not lifted but its a tall truck. lol

I try to talk with insurance as little as possible.

Problem with that is that they may refuse to pay if something major happens and they send out an adjuster to examine your vehicle.

Exactly. Find a new insurer. No need to let others tell you one thing but then decide on another due to a "lift" since the majority of insurers dont know a lift from a whole in the ground.

Good point.

The "lifted" jeep was bought for $500, didn't even get collision on it. But if it was new it would suck to swap out the lift for stock just to be covered. lol

Little late to the party on this one. I wouldn’t tell them what you have done , but would inquire about it as in future plans to get an idea. Outside of this I would look into a different insurance company that would take care of you on this, it is possible Grundy might take it as is. Your other option is to see what adjuster out there that will consider your parts in case of a catastrophe. Sounds weird have had two close friends use this to get the value of there car or parts that were in it, with receipts.
