Why can't I find the Aux input? And deciding between 06 and 07.
I looked at a 2007 Sport and a 2006 Sport today. I couldn't find the aux input on either. They both had a "disc/aux" button on the stereo. But I couldn't find an aux input. Am I blind?
I am trying to decide between the 06 and 07 and can't figure out which is better. There isn't much price diff. Just different colors and the 07 has RSCA off button the side of the steering wheel. Other than that they seem identical. Same mileage, 06 is priced a bit lower of course. 07 has the double decker storage in back and 06 doesn't. 07 is white. 06 is gray. Both have 100,000 mile powertrain warranty. Decisions decisions.
Can the aux even be used if I were to upgrade to a nav head unit anyway?
Thanks. Sorry this is so random. Due to the myriad of questions and a massive migraine I'm suffering from I put it in general. Maybe it goes in 4th gen or the audio section? Not sure. My head is spinning.
Thanks gang!

Look in the center console. I think it is towards the front side.

Thanks Mark. I did. I looked in the console and there was a small black fuse box thing in the one. There was another console there that had a cigarette lighter power thing in both of them (next to the shifter). I didn't see an aux anywhere on either. I asked the guy who was selling his (private party) and he said he always wanted an aux, but couldn't get one (?). Manufacture date was 03/06 on that one. The other one I looked in the console between seats (nothing) in the console next to the shifter (again, only a cig lighter) and the one below the stereo (just a door that flipped, nothing there). Did they make a few that just didn't have an aux?
I'm confused! I guess if I put a nav head unit in that I'd need to make my own aux input for that and fish it through to the center console anyway as I'm not sure the factory one would work anyhow. I just got used to having that little aux in with my FJ and found it really handy. I could run the audio for the kids dvd player into it and they had surround sound for their movies, and my iphone/ipod were there which was nice. I never needed to use CD's anymore. I can live without one I guess.
So now the choice... 06 or 07? hmmmmmmm. I liked the 06 color better, but the 07 looked a little cleaner. 06 was from an individual (no dealer hassle) and the 07 was from a dealer (big hassle, but Toyota certified, the other one had a Carmax warranty, each was 100,000 powertrain which is good I guess).
Hmmmmmmmmmmm.

it should be in the center console underneath the armrest. not in the little compartment next to the shifter or the compartment under the HVAC controls either.

Ok, that's where I looked. There was nothing in there but a black box with some fuses in it. Is it hidden in there or in plain sight? Do all 06's and 07's have them from the factory? Or does this mean that somehow these two vehicles have had parts replaced for whatever reason with parts off of an older T4R? That would seem really random.

Yes, the Aux jack was added as a standard feature in 2006.
The jack itself faces toward the back of the truck, so it's not obvious until you really look for it.
Edit: here's a picture:

Man, now I'm totally confused. Can somebody send me a picture of where their's is? I know that sounds stupid. I thought I'd look in the console and there it would be, but it was a no go on now THREE total. One 06 and two 07's. I keep striking out. I must be dumber than I look! :headslap:

Whoops, just saw that you added a pic Toto. Thanks. Is there ever a panel covering that? I opened a panel and saw some fuses on the 06. I don't know what's up. Weird stuff.

Here you go, took these in my parents 2006. The aux port is where the black wire is plugged into and the white wire is plugged into the 120V outlet. The 120V outlet may not be in the trucks you are looking at. I think it was an option on the sport.

Thank you for this! i was losing my mind going from a 2015 fully loaded escape with blutooth, and not having anything but local stations was killing me. My aux plug blended in and did see it till this thread. Thanks so much!

that location for the aux input was so stupid. I've always hated it. I've been meaning to come up with a re-locate project. Just don't have the time right now.
