2023 Toyota Sequoia

It's being announced and shown today. Post links here!
I think it's looking pretty sharp. Better than the Tundra.

Not as big a fan of the red one in this link ^ as I am the white TRD Pro version

Sequoia IMO is now better than the Land Cruiser. I'm a bit shocked. But they dropped the IRS and went put a solid rear axle back in! Ridgewood is going to have a conniption.

And it had a locking diff option too. Plus it's offered as a hybrid that the LC still doesn't have and will have around 3" more suspension travel than the lc300 (basically it's a +2 long travel vs the LC). It has a higher trim interior too. It now is really just a bigger badder LC300. I like it. Home run in my book.

I want to see the interior in person. The photos look like the typical Toyota cheap plastic interior to me.

New tundra interior is really nice in the higher trims. Interior is quieter than the lx570 - by a pretty big margin. 6-7db. I think capstone will be on par with the LX. And I bet the price tag will be too! Outgoing Sequoia is $70k in platinum trim. New one with hybrid std will probably be $85k for platinum and 90-100k for capstone. That'll put it $10-12k more expensive than a base lx600. So having a equivalent interior build shouldn't be too much surprise.

I think the Land Cruiser might have just been knocked off the top of the hill...

What I want to know is how the hell does Toyota not have mpg figures yet!?! Even for the tundra hybrid that's supposedly available in a little over a month. (Or why are they hiding them?)

Toyota's vision is starting to become clear with the decision to stop selling the Landcruiser in the US. The Landcruiser was too expensive, and upgrading the Sequoia could make it very capable and able to fill it's spot as well as the Landcruiser in the lineup.

I've really enjoyed my 4Runner, and like that there is now an option for my growing family in the next size up. Would love a Prime version.

we enjoy the 4runner as well and we will probably keep another 5 years or so. Bought it new in 2017 and it has about 55k miles on it. Next suv will probably be the sequioa or a yukon with diesel engine. Mainly a large family size suv for long trips and sports. Sequoia does look nice, will like to see all the trim levels

How much of this design do you think will be incorporated into the 4runner? Will it just be a mini version of the new Sequoia or will it be its own design?

I don't think aisin has an AWD transfer that can handle the hybrid torque. And the Borg Warner TOD that everyone uses doesn't have a mechanical lock and the clutches can't handle heavy off-road use or even tasks like snow plowing. It's only really built for intermittent engagement. So I don't think there's a transfer case that's AWD that is functional for the 600ft/lbs. I can't think of any anyway. Maybe there's something out there I'm not thinking of?

That's my guess anyway. And that would make sense why there's no hybrid LC300. Maybe it's on its way?

Plus side is there's likely to be a lot of used lc200s getting traded on these, so the market will probably come back down a bunch by next year.

I'm in very much the same boat. With two little people and a dog the 4r is not big enough anymore. Not if I want to take some camping gear or tow anything. Land cruiser isn't any bigger so it helps with towing, but has less cargo space. Was going to buy a tundra. But this caught me by surprise. I'm really interested. It's exactly what I want. Depending on price and mpg. And - yeah, a prime model is really what I'd want. They need to make it happen.

Good point. I prefer traction/safety over power any day of week if I had choice.
