Then the argument isn’t really about doing the mod or not. It’s about legitimizing a sense of function first, and then the appearance becomes secondary, if even on the list at all. So let me handle that for OP: it is a built in sun visor. There. Now the mod has a legitimate functional factor.

All I know is plenty of people (myself included) have potentially dozens of mods that are “functional” but rarely function and/or are more for looks. Here are some examples of MOST items people I see have that don’t get used to their potential or are used rarely:

1 billion LED lights
Snorkel
25,000 pound winch with synthetic rope and soft shackles
1.3 kilotons of armor, front, rear, under, and sides
High lift jack to look like a gun, and act as a lethal projectile in the event of a 70mph crash
23 foot long fire stick CB antenna whip
Flip up DVD player screen to watch movies while out enjoying nature
Swing out tire carrier bumper with spare tire and 10 gallons of empty gas cans at all times
The back pack looking thing that goes on previously listed spare tire
Traction boards. To aid in crawl control, lockers front and rear, $3,000 wheels and tires, the aforementioned 25,000 pound winch… you know, becuase you can never be TOO prepared

Point being that we all justify nonsense and if we’re being honest, most folks ain’t using ALL of it all the time. Hence the term maul crawler is a real thing. And they LOOK pretty cool. Ready for battle…

Anyway, put the f*cking sticker on and move on. What do you care if a pack of strangers you’ll never meet from parts of the country you’ll never go to who are using a media source that’s dead give you a thumbs up or thumbs down?

For the record, I think it’s a good idea.

When I was young, from like 12 on, I wanted a wildly painted, big stereo blasting pickup truck either really low, or jacked up with big tires and a rollbar and KC lights with the smiley face covers.
Now I'm 48 and still think it would be a ball to have that wild/ tacky/ lowbrow and totally awesome pickup truck....
So yeah don't sweat it, easy to pull off when you get tired of it.

It's just a banner. If you like the thought of it, go for it. Easy to remove later if you change your mind.

The same people that say dont do it unless they sponsor you... guaranteed wear NIKE, Adidas, Arias, Wrangler, Levi, Carhart, etc and advertise by default. Its marketing 101. Everyone does it. But, as said, its your rig, your dough. You do you. And it aint rice unless its got a fart can and w giant wing on the back of a front wheel drive vehicle. Hence, the first Fast & Furious movie.
