i noticed some confusion looking at the dealer parts site. don't know what "to 11/04" means. i thought it was for 2003, 2004 4runners. but fitment shows 2005-2009. two different part possibilities: one is pump and strainer for $320, the other also includes filters, gauge, clip, seal, ring, suction tube for $620; even though the picture diagram is the same.

I found a couple on Ebay that has the same part number as the cheaper pump assembly, and both are the entire assembly, but neither have the lower price but that the way it is on Ebay with some sellers.

Yeah that is odd. Not sure why there would be a difference but the PN I confirmed with my local dealer for an 08 V6 is the -35112.. So I guess that's in line with what I was able to find.

whats the feeling about used or new aftermarket for this type of item? and, asked my local shop about labor hours, they thought 3. rather do it myself, but is this about right?

Typically, that means the part is used on vehicles with a manufacturing/production date through Nov 2004.

with the fuel tank topped off and the hesitation gone, i'm gong to run the tank down and determine where the hesitation starts. then i will top off again, and do the same. that will help me understand the situation a little better.
someone mentioned that the additional pressure created by a full tank is helping the pump function properly.

Also what wcjeep mentioned about the pump being cooler with a more full tank is also true. I didn't think about that at the time but it's another physics thing. Thermodynamics.. both these factors combined I assume are working in conjunction. If you want to see proof of where exactly the problem lies like I do, before I fix the right sh1t instead of the wrong sh!t. Rent the best scanner your parts store has that reads live stream data. This will allow you to observe the fuel pressure before and while the problem is happening.. also it may allow you to observe the output signal coming directly from the pump which will tell you if it's working properly or not.

ok, update. haven't felt a single hesitation since keeping the tank nearly full. decided to run it down until i felt the issue. right now below 1/4 full, no issue yet. could running it full have influenced the problem and contributed to it self-correcting? gonna run it down to the warning light, then do a few cycles at 1/4 full. love to not have to deal with a pump replacement.

hit the low fuel warning light. zero hesitation from full on down. put in about 5 gallons. will see how it performs back down to low. and theories if the hesitation does not return?

Well, until it happens again. ;-) Seriously, I suppose it's possible that some kind of blockage or contaminant was present that worked itself through but who knows?
In any case, I recently had my fuel pump & sender replaced. The sender was bad but why not do the fuel pump while it's out? This post should be helpful as it describes the parts used and how the 4th Gen fuel filter works.
