knock on wood. its been a few weeks now with not only no hesitation/non-responsiveness, but it is peppy like a puppy. accelerates strong and powerfully.
we'll see if it lasts. not sure what the typical lifespan of a pump is.

Service the rest of your f_ckin truck! So many things can cause acceleration issues.. your not getting a code related to this issue so service your truck. Examples- throttle body and related sensors, blow injectors out clean, check spark plugs condition/gap. Vacuum leaks. 02 and a/f sensors may need checked. PCM inputs.. at least it's working right now though 🤠

nice to have you back in the conversation!

at 200k, did this:

Replaced rear differential fluid
Replaced front differential fluid
Replaced transfer case fluid
Replaced spark plugs (OEM)
Replaced serpentine belt (OEM)

lots of other stuff later , including:

cv axle
rear brakes including calipers
cat back exhaust plus Y pipe weld
full tranny fluid change

cleaned throttle body and MAF sensor

new tires!

maybe the techron i added in April is finally working its magic......

Haha cool! After the throttle body and maf cleaning/unplugging your trucks PCM/ECU may also possibly be readjusting itself. After doing that service you're supposed to do reinitialization procedure and a/f learn procedure. But it'll relearn itself after enough driving.. maybe this is what you've been feeling..

100 miles of highway driving, plus lots of local driving. zero hesitations. i think the issue is no longer. perhaps the MAF and throttle cleaning did something, or topping off the tank did it.

My $ is on cleaning the throttle body. I'm no mechanic but it stands to reason that if the butterfly valve is sticking then moving, some kind of consequence will reflect itself in engine performance.

I agree if you cleaned it right, including the throttle plate pivots, for completely smooth action. Next time do the initialization and a/f learn procedures afterwards and drive it hard as f_ck! You won't have to deal with it relearning itself over a long period.. I do this maintenance along with all other PCM inputs every ten thousand miles. Keep her clean and computer will work clean 👽 what's next

Can you post the "initialization and a/f learn procedures" or a link to this for reference and for the future for others that need to do this?

According to the Toyota fsm it requires techstream with no manual method available. This is obvious b.s., there is a manual/diy procedure via an ignition on/off sequence and headlights or parking brake combination to activate initialization and learning. I can't remember the exact sequence right now. I can't post this information due to controversy.. sorry big chiefs 👽

jp3, my number one fan!

got my stack of tires to get installed before November. NOT going to replace my nanny TPMS sensors with failed batteries. just not worth the $300 investment.

have an OE lower steering shaft to get installed (slippery and knotchy steering feel at times). front rotors and pads. then that master cylinder/brake light issue.

THEN, decide on the minor front end incident from March that should get some attention. shop write ups are $4-5K!
