Remanufactured CV Axles From Toyota

Has anyone ever purchased these and can confirm that they're OEM remans? Reading through some old posts, there were some posts by active individuals such stating they might not be OEM and just some aftermarket brand. Here's a part # for the 5th gen ones (5th gen CV axles are also compatible with 4th, just better components (boots))

They are Toyota original and require a core return, or a core fee.

Have you purchased some in the past? I'm assuming the core return also has to be OEM?

Yes, the core is also supposed to be oem/toyota factory, acceptance will depend on who you're working with and how closely they examine the core.

I don't have a core to give back for the axle that I want, so I'm contemplating eating the core charge or just buying an aftermarket axle as a truck spare

I also just reached out to a dealership, parts employee told me they are OEM and in very good condition, they've ordered some in the past and recently had a customer ordered one, it was backordered for 3 months. I am in no need of one at the moment, but may order a set as a spare.

Also, if the cost is a bit more at your local dealership, order from them due to the core return. I was told I'd be responsible for shipping costs, so dropping them off at a local dealership is your best bet.

What if you ordered it online and have to send yours back?

There was a topic on FB a day or two ago and I asked if they take aftermarket axles as core, one guy stated they do take aftermarket axles. I've not done it so I can't 100% confirm whether they do or not.

I just ordered one of these for $125 + $75 core.
It's backordered for 2 months but whatever. I heard from a GX owner that they aren't necessarily using OEM boots and that boots failed on at least one axle within a few thousand miles. That got me thinking about a few things.
If they're paying $75 for my core and charging me $125 for the reman, where's the money in this transaction? Also if my cost for an OEM boot kit is $35 then Toyota cost is probably like $7. Why would they use non-oem boots? Again with labor there's not much meat in there. They must be using an outside shop to reman
Also if they'll take an aftermarket core what keeps that core from being put back into the reman program?
Do the OEM boots have an easy way to identify them?
I'm really tempted to install this axle assuming it checks out as OEM and then throw a boot kit at my stock axle and keep as a spare.

I just ordered one from a local dealer but am now having second thoughts as this logic definitely checks out. Anybody in this thread end up using one with good results? Definitely sounds like too good of a deal to be true... I paid only $103+tax+$75 core deposit. Called the dealer and they said they only sell genuine toyota parts but he honestly didn't sound like he could tell his head from his ***.

I came across this in the past if the boot is factory Toyota, theres an Toyoda (not misspelled) emblem on the boot itself.
I never ordered Toyota reman'd axles but, I have seen others that may have (3rd gen). Those have a sticker on the middle section of the axle. Usually in the form of a holographic sticker with Toyota on it, or a green or blue wrap sticker with Toyota and the part number on it.

I got a pair for my FJ Cruiser. I ordered them in November from Larry H Miller Toyota in Lemon Grove, San Diego area. $88 each, plus core. Yes, $88 each, it was a black Friday sale. They were back ordered. They arrived around the end of January, 2023. Original Toyota CV axles. Looked brand new. I wish that I had bought two more! Very happy with purchase and even happier with the service of the Larry H Miller Toyota parts department. They have a TSD Parts center. parts are sold at about 30% off retail. Parts are usually ready next day, pick up or delivery. Phil
