That's why I always carry Maxtrax and have AT/Mud tires (Duratracs). Mud is just difficult and needs some momentum not to get stuck. Love my 4R and feel it will never let me down, but in reality its more likely I will do something to cause the 4R to get stuck. Stock tires are the worst.

Curious, how long did you let crawl control try to get you out? Its an agonizingly slow process.

TRACTION MATS or even spare Army blankets (I keep both in my rig!). I took them out last trip and our rear diff blew. Was axle deep in muck and could have used them except no rear power due to the diff going out. Now, both stay in the rig with a snatch strap and Army blankets (also make good seat covers for the dog). Also keep a shovel and axe-can always use branches under the wheels.

Mud is the worst for getting stuck. I have crawled over just about every terrain their is, and by far, mud is the most likely to get you stuck. As others have said - RPM is your friend. It flings the mud off so your tires don’t turn into slippery mud balls.

That is called lack of experience.

I did the same last winter.

Never had an ATV before, bought a bad ass one, that in combination with its tires, you should NEVER get stuck, locking diffs and all, but no experience.

Well, once that pretty snow had fallen, it took me about 5 minutes and I was stuck. Felt like I would pass out so much I had to shovel it out of there.

I remembered now why the Tredz cracked, the plastic is not rated for low temps, being from Australia and all that. At least when i bought mine several years ago.

Maxtrax is probably a better choice if you dealing with cold climates.
