Basically, the new GX is a Land Cruiser in size. Actually a few tiny inches bigger in every dimension!
What will the 4runner be sized at?? Same as GX 550?

And this is why the LC is not needed in USA. Basically the GX550 is the LC here!
It does come optionally with e-KDSS. NO AHC. 😊
But without AHC, the approach and departure angles of Overtrail GX550 (26 and 22 respectively) are average and worst than LC200.

I'm guessing the GX and TX will spell the end of the LX in the US.

Yeah i have no idea what Lexus is doing here. LX600 and GX550 is like LX570 and Land Cruiser before?
LX600, GX550, Sequoia, and maybe upcoming 4runner all same size???

The GX550 looks interesting to us. We will see. Specs can say what they want, but seeing and using are totally different. Our 2017 GX has about 32k on the clock. So basically new. I'm certainly not in love with it. So maybe a trade. It may have close to 40k on the clock by the time the 550 is available. I doubt I will part with the $$$$$ to do the trade. But we are interested. I'm guessing it will be somewhere in the $70k range. Probably get, maybe half what we paid for the GX in 2017 to buy the 550. I'd have to really be thrilled with it. Last time I was thrilled enough to do that kind of trade, I traded a CJ2A for an Early Bronco. I don't see that kind of thrill happening again.

Something I just noticed. There is nothing aboiut a third row of seats in the propaganda. That is something we use enough to want it.

I think that the other trims have it. Fold from bottom like the current one. The Overtrail does not have it i think.

I concur...the GX550 is the LC300...just a little less steam out of the engine, im guessing to make it less stressed. From the vids that have come out, I think i like it (typed as i salivate over it's rugged lusciousness.
If i had the money, i'd buy one...Because i dont off road as much as some, i'd buy one of the other specs, and buy the 'OverTrail' wheel package from the dealer...ie similarly as many have bought the TRD Pro wheel package from Toyo.
and as has been said, Now we wait to see what the next 4Runner looks like.
It would be nice if Toyo gave us the T4R with the same 3.4L engine without the twin turbos. Lower trims with the engine by itself, higher trims with the hybrid system to boost power and efficiency...maybe...possibly.
or are we going to have to take the 4 banger, and like it...hmmm

I don't think you'd want this v6 without the turbos. It would be a real dog. It's build ground up as a turbo engine and it need the boost to make decent power.
The only vehicle I've seen carrying on with a v6 is the Lexus TX with the base hybrid - it gets a 2gr (3.5l non-turbo) along with the hybrid system. And the foreign LC300 GX has the 1GR. Otherwise I think it's a given for us that it'll be the turbo v6 or the turbo 4. I'd probably rather have the Turbo 6, but I'm terrified of the long term cost to own it. It's just so expensive to fix anything and generally unproven as a long term reliable engine. At a minimum I'd probably buy the longest warranty extension I could.

Wow, didn't take long for Toyota to start sending us adds. Wife just got a prebuy notice we can sign up for. It's "Only for Lexus current Lexus owners" Yea right! So when does the hybrid come out? I doubt i will pull the trigger until that happen, if ever. The new F-150 my sister has is really great. If I was in the market for another pickup it would easily be first on the list.

Is the Toyota Land Cruiser Coming Back? - Expedition Portal
after reading here, and after seeing the TFL vid from yesterday about the Toyota Twitter tease (Land Cruiser name plates thru time)...and with all of the delay and growing speculation about the next 4Runner iteration...is it possible Toyota is about to splash the USA market with a new 4Runner/LC love-child of sorts...a 4Runner up-build or Land Cruiser minus build (much of the lux stuff pulled i would assume) to create the next off roader of the 21st century.
Bringing back the LC in a way that would have the off road community lusting for it (less lux, more brute and grunt on a LC body on frame) but also keeping the 4Runner faithful happy about its improvements, cost, and capabilities.
the new Toyota 4Runner LC...
the new Toyota LC-Runner...
give it the 3.4 V6 w or w/o the turbos, whatever 4WD system you want (part time or full time with center diff), add this, take away that...and drop it into the $35k-60k price range. Basically making them all TRD Pro levels of ability...
but what do i know, im just a fan-boy by night, computer engineer by day...

So let me get this straight…Toyota and Lexus will have how many vehicles all about the same size?
Lexus LX600 and GX550.
Toyota Sequoia, upcoming Land Cruiser, and upcoming 4runner.
5 vehicles at least all the same with just minor cosmetic and luxury differences??
Let’s not forget that the Tundra is basically a fraternal twin also.

I posted this in Expedition Portal but it makes sense here too:
It's hard to imagine a role for the LC in the current Toyota lineup:
4Runner - GX - Sequoia - LX
If the LC won't be the 300, the only real possibility is it falling below the GX as the same SUV with Toyota badging.
That seems in-step for Toyota's SUV action in the US market. But then again, The FJ is a niche vehicle that sold for many years, the Supra is a niche vehicle, and even the Corolla GR caters to a small crowd. I think Toyota may actually know that they need a new flagship vehicle like what the Wranglers and Broncos are to their companies.
If this track of mind is correct, we could be in store for something really cool.
I can imagine a few scenarios:
1) LC Prado is the new 4Runner TRD Off-Road / TrailHunter trim
2) LC Prado is something unique like the FJ Cruiser aimed at the Wrangler and Bronco, and the 4Runner is standalone (same platform as the GX) but closely resembling the Tacoma and retaining the Limited Trim
3) LC Prado is just a rebadged GX, looks and underpinnings, maintaining a level of luxury, and the 4Runner is standalone aimed at the Wrangler and Bronco.
4) One of the two is an all-electric variant.
If something different, I can't imagine where that leaves the 4Runner. Its sales are huge so there's no dropping it and the Highlander is just behind it with FWD bias and IRS.
