Disappointed with one thing on my new TRD Premium

After checking all the features on my new TRD Off Road Premium, I see it doesn't have the Auto Headlight feature. I call this pretty petty for Toyota to offer all the features that it does come with and not have this one, it only cones on the TRD PRO and the Limited Edition. My last 4 vehicle have had this feature and that goes back some 10 years ago with both Honda and Ram. I guess I'm learning about "old school" and what some say about the 4-Runner being one of these vehicles. I think the biggest thing I dislike about not having this feature is not being able to walk away from the vehicle at night and having light to light up the way for some short time, just somewhat of a safety feature. I'd rather have this feature rather some that I got I will never use.

To be honest, this was definitely one of the several factors that led us to upgrading from our 2016 Trail (which was basically a TRD Offroad) to a 2020 Pro (combined with all the electronic upgrades in that model year and the JBL stereo).

We had auto lights on every vehicle we had going back to 2004 except that stupid 4Runner . Drove us nuts.

Hopefully your dashboard lights don't stay on when your headlights are off or you'll be one of the guys I see driving around at night all the time with their headlights off!

That's one of the deciding factors that led me to the Pro. Got spoiled with the auto headlights. The simplified suspension without X this or K that, Softex over leather, manual transfer case, Heated wheel, etc, also played into it. It costs more than the limited, but still lacks the seat memory and parking sensors, but I don't care. I've been successfully parking cars since the 70's without all that crap, don't need it now, and no one else drives my 4Runner either, so I can live without the seat memory.

When I'm feeling nostalgic, I still have a few cars that I need to crank the windows by hand, flip the mirror myself, unlock and start with a key, Shift manually, and know how to drive without ABS or traction control. I must be nuts, no air bags encapsulating me either. Holley carb, check, 454, check, paper road map, check. clean underwear, check. Every drive I take in one of those reminds me how spoiled I've gotten, not that I mind.

To be honest they go off on their own after a short delay when you lock the doors. My SR5 at night I leave them on and have them set to 120 seconds
Now my Limited the dang things wont go off during the daylight hours.

Concern wasn't auto-off but rather the fact that when driving in very "light polluted" areas like surface roads and even our freeways in Phoenix, it's actually pretty easy to not realize your headlights are off.

You see people cruising around constantly with their headlights off here and my wife was prone to doing it too.

Disappointed with one thing on my new TRD Premium

I’m pretty sure there is a headlight off delay in the vehicle settings menu in the radio. [Menu>Vehicle>Vehicle Customization>Lights Settings> Headlights Auto-Off Timer]

Auto on headlights would have been nice, but I typically just leave mine on all the time.
