"Hand-Held Tester" and Diagonostic Tools

Hey folks.

Seems like there's a million of these available. My heart says buy Denso no matter what... but I'm curious. Do you have one? Which one? How is it working for you? Specifically in the context of a 3rd gen or older Toyota.

What about the auxiliary meters that can mount on the steering column for minute-by-minute ECU info?

Knowledge is Power. Thanks in advance for your comments.

ScanGauge or UltraGauge is good for real time monitoring, and reading/clearing engine codes.

Techstream is the best way to go for the 3rd gen 4runner. There is nothing that can't be done with Techstream, that one of those Scan tools does.

If you really want to buy a scan tool, I would look at the Autel Maxidas. Its what 90 percent of the body shops use and it has 100 percent coverage for the older Toyota OBD2 systems.
