Car Camping Mattresses

Recently performed the Interior Hatch Release Mod which was in preparation of upcoming camping excursions. Just did a long format review and video of some car camping mattresses that can be seen here...3 Car Camping Mattress choices for the Toyota 4Runner. Which one do you prefer?

These appear to be extremely durable, far more than air only mattresses. I am grabbing the Twin size mattress most often and at times set it up in advance of a long day on the road when planning to stealth camp. Then when retiring for the night I climb directly from the front seat to the rear which puts additional stress from stepping on the mattress and it is not showing any wear, loss of air, or any signs that it is not durable. I would not hesitate to recommend this for extended trips.

Neat review, the twin size looks like it would do the job for comfort while providing some extra "cubby holes" for storage!

Sleeping mattresses

I use a cot with various layers of pads.
The cot fits nicely from backside of front seat to tailgate. It is high enough to go over the folded rear seat.
Cot and the mattresses I like roll up compact for storage. Also provide great insulation for cold weather. Their is lots of storage under the cot.
I can easily roll onto cot from second row seat I leave up. The second row seat is handy for reading and dressing.

Don’t have any pics unfortunately but if anybody wants a cheap solution I just grabbed the thickest mattress topper I could find on amazon and cut it to fit the wheel wells, maybe not the easiest to store but works great when it’s in the car! Cost me around $50 for a 4in thick memory foam topper I believe, way better then the backpacking sleeping pad I used to use haha

Wife and I have been discussing something like this for a while, but we might be too old for sleeping on air mattresses, heh.
