Would you buy a RHD LC?

Curious to see what people's opinions are on owning an old school Toyota troopy, ready for the trails, but RHD?

Curious to see if most would stay away because of the driver side or not.

Thanks for your comments in advance!

Given that RHD means it's 25+ years old, I probably wouldn't. I've been tempted to buy some other JDM cars in the USA, but when I consider what else I could spend that money on, I think it's a bad idea.

First off, getting parts and maintenance will be more difficult on an older vehicle. You've also got all the rubber bits and wear items that likely need to be refreshed, too. So unless you're doing it as a hobby or for the novelty, I'd purchase something newer. Just my 2c.

I wheeled/overlanded with a guy that had a 70 series with a 4 cylinder diesel in it and got something ridiculous like 45 mpg with it. Plus torque to spare down low where you need it. I was really jonesing for a diesel at the time but couldn't really get past the RHD thing. Wheeling didn't matter but everything on the road was a pain.
Surprisingly, parts are not that big of a problem. There are plenty of enthusiasts out there and parts can be turned up with not too much digging. Still, it generally is more of a hobby vehicle.
But for me, it was a no.

I imported mine because it isn't a diesel and still meets ULEZ requirements. Just my way of flicking them the V's.

Modern diesels are hugely over-rated. They need more servicing. Parts (And there are a lot of them) are expensive.

Everyone who says "I love diesels" is really saying "I love forced induction. And common rail fuel injection. And dual mass flywheels...."

I had a Citroen Berlingo 1.9D for years. I quite liked it, but I am strange like that. It was a good old chugger. I challenge anyone else to drive it for a year and still tell me they love diesels!!

Stick with your V8s...
