Best Battery For The Money

Hi All

It’s looks like my battery is reaching the end of its life. What do you recommend is the best battery for the money?

Project Farm recommends Costco Interstate or Walmart Everlast.

What are your thoughts.

Thanks

We have Costco AGM Interstate on both of our 4runners. Did the voltage upgrade to supply an extra .5vdc. Vehicle starts quicker. Costco lead acid and agm pricing beat everyone else near me.

In my experience, it has a lot to do with where you live on pricing as well as what you need for performance, but where I live, Toyota's batteries are the best value believe it or not. The TrueStart has a 84 month warranty at $170 and their 60 month True 2's are $122. Everstart Maxx here are $140 with a 36 month and Costco Interstate 36 month is $124. Downside is the Toyota's are less on CCA's. Where you live, I'd probably go with the True 2 for the warranty. If you lived where I live, I'd probably go with the Everstart Maxx for the CCA's. The other upside is that if you need the warranty, out of all those stores, Walmart is everywhere and is more likely to have stock on hand when you need it.

I'm very happy with my Odyssey, however for my Wife I got a Duracell AGM battery from Sam's and it's been great, handling single digit temps for the last several winters

To OP, for the past 15-18 years, I am using Everstart Maxx in all my vehicles.
Normally can get around 6 years out of them before I feel replacement is needed; had one one that lasted over 8 years and was still working at the time it was replaced last fall.

I've had great results with the OEM Truestart batteries in my Tacoma (new to 4Runner). I had 8+ years on my OEM battery in the Tacoma and replaced it pro-actively with a new Truestart.

OEM Toyota batteries are a good value and good warranty.

I’ve been using Costco Interstate batteries on all my vehicles. If you live in a hot climate you’re very lucky to get 4 years from a lead acid battery. So now I replace mine every 3 years.
My 3 1/2 year old Toyota OEM battery died after listening to the radio for 15 minutes. No crank. Luckily I had a portable jump starter pack to get me going to the nearest Costco.

This is another really good thread on a topic that would interest everyone, so I'm moving this to General Discussion.

FWIW, I've had great success with both Costco and WM Everlast batteries in my vehicles over the years. I usually lean towards whoever has the best warranty at that time.

Costco’s Interstate and Walmart’s Everlast are solid choices, good value and reliability. If you’re in a hot area, swap them out every 3-4 years. Toyota TrueStart is another good pick if you want a longer warranty. I’d go with Costco for peace of mind.

I've always replaced my factory batteries with an Interstate battery, always got 4 plus years out of them, probably would not consider another battery because of past experiences with the Interstates.
