OMFG! Trail Wars?
This is my latest and most bizzare chapter in my offroading adventures, and the most infuriating for me.....
Sunday night, 1:45 am, and I am sitting parked on the trail. Lights on, truck running, but parked. At this point in the trail, there are two paths, kinda of like two one lane roads with a grassy median in between....
Im just sitting minding my own business, on the right side path when someone comes up on the left hand trail and passes me. Its a guy ive seen now for the second (not the last!) time, he drives and early-mid 90s navy blue taco pretty beat up, some 33 at's i think and a bumperor grill guard on it.... Anywho, this guy passes me, goes about 50 ft and then turns over onto my side of the trail. So we are now both on the same path, facing the same direction.... He hits the brakes and throws his truck into reverse..... So at this point im thinking "oh cool, maybe he just wants to shoot the sh|t or whatever......" Well about 49tf linto his reverse I realize that isnt the case as he SLAMS INTO MY TRUCK. Not going FAST, maybe 5 mph.
I instantly start screaming "wtf!" etc etc and he puts the truck into 1st gear and TEARS ASS down the remaining mile or so of trail.... I chase him a short ways, but he was honestly driving BAJA1000 style, catching air and sht. doing easily 50mph (this is an outrageous speed for this trail).
So I sit there on the trail for 2.5 more hours waiting for the motherfvcker to come back and he never does...of course. Like I said its the second time ive seen him on the same trail, he drives like an idiot and is probably pretty heavily intoxicated. I could describe the truck to a T but I didnt get his plate # unfortunately.......
So he hit my truck mostly on the drivers side front bumper, and the damage is minimal..... structurally you cant really even tell I was hit, the bumper TOOK the hit fine... I did lose a little paint on the underside of the bumper, but trust me when I say it sounded and could have been alot worse....im REALLY anal about my truck, esp when it comes to DAMAGE and most ESP when some ******* does it for me.... so its something I can live with for now but not forever.... Ill probably get it fixed eventually.. or just go shrocks...
On to the remedy. I did not call the police the instant it happened for a couple reasons: 1) we were on "no tresspassing" land 2)I had beers with me 3) contraband/paraphanelia/weeds :P
But that doesnt mean that I cant still call them.... HOWEVER I am feeling that a little old fashioned JUSTICE is in order.
Ive been formulating plan(s).
All result in heavy heavy damage to his truck and or his body, depending on him. At the risk of incriminating myself by typing out potential scenarios ill just let you guys use your imagination ;)
I just wanted to let you guys know that you arent even safe on the trail, of all places ,so always be prepared for the strangest of occurances!
Chapter 2 coming soon......

Damn! That sucks:cursin:
Don't get yourself in trouble but I vote for a movie style cable around the rear axle trick. If you could catch him sitting, get it tied and then fly by him firing a paintball or two to ensure that he chased
Mythbusters tried it on a 3 or 5-link x-cop car and said it wouldn't work. On a lightly sprung, leaf spring vehicle like the Taco it should do just fine
Seriously, don't get yourself messed up for some freakin' A**hole... I am glad damage wasn't that severe. The scary part about a hammerhead like that is if you were standing there taking a leak he could kill you.

Not a fan of those late night runs - just for that reason.
I'm old and go to bed early.
Hope your rig buffs out.

Wow...that was a weird story! Sorry to hear that you encountered such an ass on the trail!
Next time, you need to share your weeds with your friends AT HOME in front of a big TV!

I remember that mythbusters episode, and that would be perfect! but I dont think ill be able to catch him sitting, unless he isnt in his truck... which would be PRIME...
In reality id like to find his truck parked somewhere and dismantle it there....
so many options for retaliation..
I may try and find his truck in the daytime, get his license plate then dig up his address and go from there.
Too bad it was another Yota too..... :awais:
thanks for the kind words sirs

All kidding aside, i think that you should let this "incident" pass...you don't want to do something that you will regret later. That dumbass probably does not mind being in jail or not...you do (i assume). Although i don't recommend being a chickenshit, but your life is worth more than his i am sure...so, just lay back and relax (aka smoke more weed!). In most cases, nothing good comes out of these retaliations.
I guess that i am being more "parently" these days...i feel like an old fart!
On another note, maybe his Tacoma was giving your 4runner a "love tap." He may play for the "other" team.........although, there is nothing wrong with that.

Im also wondering, what if I see him again on the trail again....and he gets fresh....
Im going to wallyworld tonight to buy the biggest heaviest steel bat available.

Looking forward to Part 2.

I think if you're patient enough an opportunity will come along for you to get even. Even if its something as simple as seeing him broken down on the side of the trail and just driving past him throwing mud from behind your 4runner all of his pos taco.

Just keep an eye out for his truck around town , he must be a local.
Take it from there ..............
Be careful there are a lot of psyco idiots out there !!! This person sounds like one of them and if so a bat is not gonna cut it .
Sorry to hear that happen , it sucks !! It honestly would have scared the crap out of me not to mention I would have not had the self control you had.

That definitely sucks. I would question why you were Trespassing though? I never go offroad unless it is public land and offroading is permitted. The other driver likely did the damage to keep you out of there for a reason --- not just a "turf battle." I would not be surprised if there was some illegal activity going on, and they were trying to chase you away, knowing that you would have no real grounds to call the police.
I also wouldn't be surprised if the guy has a gun. Given the fact that he damaged your vehicle, I would consider that to be a warning shot on his part. I would not pursue him. That would be foolish, and you will likely end up dead. I would alert the authorities and give them a heads up.

ill be honest, around here there is no legal offroading. Not within an hours distance anyways......
I have seen him before as I stated, and he appears to just be a drunk redneck with a taco....I dont think that he will kill me......
but yes, im going to find him around town during the day as i'd bet he IS a local of DELAND, FL.

Just be careful.
If you see the truck just observe from a distance , watch his actions .
I would not take this into your own hands , just do a little investigating for your own pc of mind.
