Any further observations from those who have done this? MPG? Sulfer smell? Anybody have a picture of what this filter looks like? Thanx.

X2 How about some pics of where exactly this is located?

The HCF does not prevent particles from getting in (ie second air filter) it prevents fumes from escaping after turning the engine off??)

Thanks in advance.

I might consider this mod.

However, those of us who live in more progressive regimes (Like The People's Republic of NY) might want to do it in a way that is easily reversible. You might have to put it back in to do your annual emissions er.. "safety" inspection.

It definitely will pass inspection. The hydrocarbon filter does noting for emissions until you turn the car off. It is used to prevent hydrocarbons from escaping after you turn your car off. Should have no problem passing inspection.

I did the HCF delete. No noticable changes after everything is said and done! I don'w know why people think that this does any good, in theory yes but, unless u put it on a dyno to see if there is a difference, I bet minor if anything.

So for me no mpg change, sulfur smell (I fixed that by keeping back window closed unless crusing), no power change.

Just got back from school after a math test. I really didnt see any changes. then I reset the ECU and notice a tiny bit more pick up. maybe the AFE spacer is working a bit more. I really dont I guess its totally subjective.

Did you have to cut the filter/plastic frame to get it out of the v6. I know you can get it out without damage so you can put it back in the v8 but I haven't seen anyone with a v6 who has found a clean way to get it out.

Also did you have to be careful not to get any debris into the intake behind the filter (where the MAF is)?
