added a new "toy"ota to the fleet
Take a look at my sig, today we added an 09 tacoma to the fleet. this has been an expensive month, between vacation, buying wedding bands, buying a new truck...we'll be eating pasta for a month to recoop from our spending spree...i'm gonna have pics up of the two "toys" over the next couple days...main differences between 08 and 09 tacoma...all in o9 come standards with side curtain air bags, led/altezza looking tails and back up camera incorporated into rearview.

Congrats on the new truck. I've got a '05 DC Taco. I can't say I like one over the other. Love both of them equally.

And...
...if you have any questions about Tacomas, Uneek would be a great source!!
Sometimes I think he loves his Tacoma more than his 4Runner.

Uneek is to busy campaigning for president.
I love the Taco double cab SB in the silver . Did you get the sport or o/r package ? I wish I could combine the 2 to make my own truck. Partial to the Sport model but some of the o/r features are nice.
Congrats on the new truck

i actually didn't get either trd pkg...mainly b/c of the fact that i liked options from both and couldn't decide so i got the "as loaded" as poss SR5 before jumping to the trds...i figure eventually i can build it up the way i want. as i said i will def post pics...i have always loved the tacomas and the wive has always loved the 4runners so now we're both happy, also she can't drive stick so at least so won't be driving the taco anytime soon.

I have the Off-Road package, I got it cause I wanted the sport bucket seats (didn't know it'll take away fold flat feature). But I liked the Sport package for the color key everything, except the rear bumper and maybe the front grille. The rear bumper looks better chromed, grille I can go either way. One of the trade offs of having the TRD package is the sport bucket seats in the front, it takes away the ability to fold flat the front passenger seat. When I frist saw the Tacoma at the end of 2004, early 2005, I only saw the non-TRD packages and the fold flat front seat was an instant hit for me, cause it doubles as an ottoman if someone else is driving. I didn't seen the TRD packages on the lot back in '05, Tacos were selling like hot cakes. Mine had to be ordered, waited about six weeks for it.
Not sure how it's changed for 2009, in '05, SR5 fully equipped could get the LSD option, just like the Sport.
I agree if they would make a Trail Edition or Sport Off-Road Tacoma that would be sweet combining the goodies from both the Sport and Off-Road package... mainly because I want the color key stuff. From the outside aside from the decal and tires, the Off-Road looks just like any other SR5. My other rant about Toyota, their middle models/packages are treated like b*****d children, just like how they did my Camry SE. The Sport Edition 4Runner is the only exception, since that has almost all the Limited goodies. Ok, getting off my :soapbox:
LOL, personally I think the Off-Road package should be on 4x4 only. Mines a PreRunner. The 2009 are sweet, there is a backup cam option. Waiting to see more picutres of it and see if any of the 2005-08 guys retro theirs with it. Love the magnetic gray color.

vsc, limited slip, and trac is standard on 09 as well...also is satellite radio. some trucks may need the actually tuner, but the radio and antenna are more or less prewired on almost every truck. the pass seat does fold down completely too which is def cool, like uneek says a backseat rider foot rest, more space, etc.
the 09 sr5 i have got the following in addition to what is standard which apparently toyota says is all you can get before going to trd pkg:
power mirrors (locks and windows is std), cruise control, variable speed int wipers, chrome grille and rear bumper, color-keyed front bumper and fenders, sliding rear window w/rear tinted glass, bucket seat w/driver lumbar, sr5 seat fabric, metallic tone instrument panel, leather steering wheel w/audio controls, sunvisor w/mirrors and extenders, backup camera and auto-dimming rearview mirrow w/camera monitor, sr5 badging
oh most that have that pkg get the tacoma carpet mats automatically...sorry for the dragged out post, but now everyone knows what the sr5 can come w/
oh and can i just say...loving the 6 spd.

also, the only thing i wasn't thrilled w/, unless i ordered it special, is that unless you step up to a trd pkg, all the tacomas come w/steel rims, not alloys...i need to make the steelies and those wimpy looking 245/75/16 tires disappear sooner that later. i know in the accessories book that the 16" baja alloy is available...i may consider that.
