Can our chipped keys get wet?

Hey guys,

Im planning on going swimming and am wanting to take just my key so I don't get jacked! Will the key still be functional after it gets wet if it has a chip in it?

Thanks !

I am a sailing coach. I keep my keys in my pocket, and I am in and out of the water launching and hauling the coach boat, and sailing just about everyday. I also on occasion jump in the water for a swim with the kids. My keys have been completely submerged in salt water for decent periods of time more than I can imagine, and they still work no problem. The keys and remotes are definitely water resistant.

Or if you want to take extra precaution you can put it in a small ziploc bag. Usually works fine for me.

Q: "Can our chipped keys get wet?"
A: "If you pour some water on them, yes."

Other than that, I don't think they'll damage, at least not the code, as it's passive-electrical.
