Another Reverse Light Thread

I've searched other threads and didn't see what I was looking for.
I bought a pair of flush mount LED reverse lights for my 4R...
with the intention of mounting them just above the lights on each side of the bumper. (see pic below)
I realize that area is plastic, and not metal....but that is my plan.
I figure that it would be easier to cut a square opening in the plastic, than it would in metal.
AND it would be very easy to mount them and wire them to the reverse lights from that spot.
(you can reach the inside by removing the tail light assembly)
And I kinda like having them there for aesthetic reasons, too.
Has anyone tried mounting them here?

Obviously different generations, but I have seen several 5th Gens mounted in this general location. I decided to mount mine in the bumper, and have been very happy with the result.

Not sure if you've seen this, but here's a good option.

That's what I'm talking about!
Gotta ask, were those mounted in the PLASTIC part of the bumper,
or in the metal?
That's my concern...I want to be sure the plastic will hold it securely/permanently.

All plastic. I too had my concerns regarding strength. The material was certainly stronger / thicker than I had anticipated.

Are you planning to mount them in the same spot as I am?

I have had these lights for more than a year
and still haven't found the time to install them.
If you get 'em done before me...
post some pics on the process.

I guess I'm still a little hesitant to break out some power tools and start making holes.

Completed installing the lights...not hooked up.

I know they bump out more then I'd like...but the corners of the truck are so angled...I doubt you'd get good, useful light behind the truck where it's actually needed the most. This way way they're still slightly bent out (and maybe a hair downward) but are in a much better location then when I had them installed in the bumper on the previous truck.

I also installed the upper rack lighting which I've wanted to do for a while.

I'll do a step by step in my build thread...I have a bunch more pictures.

Finally got so time to get them done.

First pic shows just my LED reverse lights...no addtional lighting.

Second pic shows Rigids and top rack lights on....the trailer is about 125' feet away parked in the woods....barely shows up with just reverse lights.
