I need some advice.

Ok I need some advice on what to do. I took my CompuStar remote starter/alarm to a local shop to get it installed. For those of you familiar with the CompuStar system it comes with a big antenna, about 12 inches long.

So I pick up my truck and guess where they mounted it?

On the windshield (inside), under the left visor of the driver's side so it's right in my vision while driving. I have no idea where the antenna for the CompuStar is usually mounted, I thought it would be behind the rear view mirror or on the passenger's side. To make matters worse, I have 50% tint on my front windshield, so I'm afraid of removing the antenna and mounting it somewhere else, I don't even know if it's worth to remount it because 1) I don't want the tint to rip and 2) not sure if the antenna is long enough.

Any advice?

As for removing the antenna, if it's attached with double stick tape. I would say try to "cut" the tape with some thing like dental floss or fishing line, much like emblem removal or debadging. And then clean remove the residue with a citrus based cleaner, after testing it on an inconspicious spot.

My guess for them mounting it on the driver side is because the module is under the dash and it's easiest for them to run it up the driver side A-pillar. Otherwise, they would need to pull the headliner.

Mounting the antenna on the windshield is pretty standard. The reason being is that location usually provides the best reception. I tried mounting the antenna to my remote start behind the a-pillar trim but reception sucked. I relocated it to the underside of the luggage rack cover. I feel this was the best between out-of-sight and range.

BTW, how do you like the compustar?

i have the compustar also, i have 2 of these one in each truck i own, best place is to mount on the windshield behind the rear view mirror, so its out of sight, also the tint u have may affect the signal/ distance of the alarm, i love starting my truck up about 2-3 blocks away.

also u didnt bought the alarm at an authorize dealer? so no lifetime warranty for u. should of think about that when u spend money on a good alarm system, always pay extra and go to authorize dealers.
