so yes, you are talking about using your left foot on the brake while the right is on the gas to transfer weight to the front wheels? known in the rally community as LFB.

no....its actually a delicate balance of using your right foot on both the brake and gas.....and getting the combo right, while your left is using the clutch to engage and disengage as you are going over obtacles.

ah. my ignorance revealed.

but in that case I doubt you'll be LFBing anyway, I doubt you'll be peering out the window while you're moving fast enough to load the front wheels by tapping the brake.

he's talking about an automatic so the only reason he'd use both feet would be for LFBing.

I think the 3rd gen has a great balance of comfort, practicality and simplicity.

This has got to be 1 of the most ridiculous statements made on this forum. A car in the 60 was a safety nightmare compared to cars made now. A 3rd gen is 100% safer than any big no airbag having cheap seat belt 60ish vehicle. A modern vehicle is actually survivable in many roll over crashes or when you hit something like a tree at certain speeds. A 60ish car with all that heavy steel would just crumble around you and kill you on impact. A 3rd gen does not meet current federal safety standards set for modern cars and is not nearly as safe in a serious crash as a 5th gen 4 runner. As much as I love my 3rd gen it is not better than our 5th gen in measurable categories.

3rd gen vs 5th gen

parking garage neighbors... My 3rd gen has a 3" suspension and 2" body lift. Not sure what the 5th gen has rocking but notice the clearance difference between the undercarriages and door rockers.

Moms still trying to get my to buy her 5th gen... She shouldn't have sold me her 3rd gen! Just passed 200k miles and she's purring like a kitty... 300k more planned.
